    摘要: An NOx sensor capable of accurately determining the concentration of NOx contained in a gas to be analyzed (measurement gas) using a simple circuit. The NOx sensor includes a first measurement space and a second measurement space. The first measurement space communicates with the measurement gas via a first diffusion controlling layer, and the second measurement space communicates with the first measurement space via a second diffusion controlling layer. A first pumping current IP1 is controlled such that an output from a Vs cell is used as a reference voltage VC0 to control the amount of oxygen flowing into the second measurement space at a constant level. A constant voltage is applied to the second pumping cell so as to decompose the NOx component of the measurement gas contained in the second measurement space, and to pump out the resulting oxygen from the second measurement space. Accordingly, the concentration of NOx contained in the measurement gas can be obtained from second pumping current IP2. The electrode of the Vs cell located on the side of the first measurement space is formed around the periphery of or on a portion of the diffusion controlling layer of the Vs cell. As a result, the amount of oxygen flowing from the first measurement space into the second measurement space can be accurately determined by means of the Vs cell. Also, the NOx concentration can be accurately determined without the need for compensation.

    摘要: Using a sole Nox sensor Nox concentration and oxygen concentration are measured accurately. A measurement device for measuring NOx concentration and oxygen concentration comprises an NOx sensor 2 having a first measurement chamber 20 communicating via a diffusion rate regulating layer 4d with the gas under measurement and a second measurement chamber 26 communicating with the first measurement chamber 20 via diffusion rate regulating layers 6d, 22d. A first pump cell 4 and an oxygen concentration measurement Vs cell 6 are formed on the first measurement chamber 20, while a second pump cell 8 is formed on the second measurement chamber 26. Inside of the first measurement chamber 20 is controlled to a constant low oxygen concentration by controlling the first pump current IP1 so that output of Vs cell 6 will equal a reference voltage VC0. By applying a constant voltage across the second pump cell 8 NOx in the second measurement chamber 26 is decomposed to pump out oxygen. Thus NOx concentration and oxygen concentration are measured from the second pump current IP2 and from the first pump current IP1, respectively. During measurement, sensor temperature is detected from the internal resistance of the Vs cell for controlling heater current supplied to heaters 12, 14 to maintain a constant sensor temperature.

In another embodiment, the misfire detecting device comprises high voltage applying means which monitors a detection voltage which is caused by application of the pulsed high voltage to each spark plug and controls the pulsed high voltage so that the detection voltage is maintained at a highest possible value that does not cause firing of the spark plug due to application of the pulsed high voltage to the spark plug.

    摘要: A method of detecting a misfire of an ignition system for an internal combustion engine is provided. By the method, after completion of spark discharge of a spark plug, a high tension pulse which is not so high as to cause spark discharge is applied to each spark plug by way of a reverse current preventing diode and a secondary winding of an ignition coil or by way of a reverse current preventing diode and a leakage preventing diode for preventing ingress of an ignition high voltage. Misfire at each cylinder is detected on the basis of a voltage attenuation characteristic at a passing side terminal of the reverse current preventing diode. A device for carrying out the above method is also provided.

    摘要: A spark plug voltage waveform detector probe for use in an internal combustion engine and which is mounted on a secondary circuit of an ignition circuit to form static capacity therebetween so as to detect a spark plug voltage waveform. The detector probe includes an insulator body and an electrode plate which is embedded in the insulator body and electrically connected to a lead wire. A pair of readily replaceable insulator plates are located under the insulator body each of the insulator plates having at least one groove, the at least one groove of each of the insulator plates opposing each other and cooperating to form an opening in which a spark plug cable is placed which is extended from the secondary circuit. Electromagnetic shield plates are provided to liquid-tightly sandwich the insulator body and the insulator plates so as to form a laminated detector probe structure. The electromagnetic shield plates are electrically connected to the internal combustion engine for grounding.

A plurality of grooves (333, 341) are provided between the insulator base (303) and the rubber plate (342) to locate the corresponding cables (305) in the grooves (333,341) so as to form a static capacity (C1) between the electrode plate (332) and the cables (305). This makes it possible to reduce a noise level by the ratio of the static capacity (C1) to a static capacity (C2) between the electrically conductive wall (313) and the electrode plate (332). An electrical shield sheet (343) is fixedly attached to the lower surface of the rubber plate (342).

    摘要: In a burning condition detecting device in an internal combustion engine in which a high voltage is applied to a spark plug by way of a diode and a series gap of a distributor. A voltage charger circuit is provided to on-off actuates the primary coil to induce a charging voltage in the secondary circuit either during establishing the spark discharge or during a predetermined period of time immediately after an end of the spark discharge. A voltage divider circuit is provided to divide the sparkplug voltage in accordance with a high impedance element and a low impedance element. A voltage level detecting circuit is provided to detect a sparkplug voltage waveform divided by the voltage divider circuit. A distinction circuit detects a degree of variation of an attenuation time period of the spark plug voltage waveform so as to determine a variation of an air-fuel ratio of an air-fuel mixture gas injected into a cylinder of the internal combustion engine by a fuel injector.

The light beams impinged on the interface less than a critical angle are refracted, while the light beams impinged on the interface more than the critical angle totally reflected to escape from other side of the column. A photo diode is provided to receive the light beams escaped from the other side of the column so as to generate an output. An effective photo-receiving area of the photo diode is in the form of an inversed trapezoid to compensate for characteristics of the output from the photo diode.
