Abstract:
This invention relates particularly to overhead conveyors as are used to deliver, or in some cases to remove, materials from high places such as roof tops. In particular, the invention applies to such conveyors which are mobile, i.e. vehicle mounted, and may be part of a delivery truck for transporting materials such as roofing shingles. The truck is driven into a site where roofing or the like is to be applied or repaired, and the conveyor is positioned as to its elevation and azimuth using its own power drive equipment.
Abstract:
A portable computer docking station has incorporated therein a motorized docking/undocking module which is releasably latched to a housing wall portion of the docking station. The module includes a housing within which a small electric drive motor is operatively mounted, with wall portions of the module housing translationally and rotationally restraining the motor body without the use of screws or other separate fastening members. A docking control system, upon sensing the manual placement of a portable computer on a receiving area adjacent the module energizes the module motor which rotates a cammed worm gear portion of the module which is drivingly linked to latching and ejection portions of the module. The motor-driven latching portion of the module connects to the computer and docks it by forcibly drawing it toward the module in a manner mating facing connectors on the computer and docking station. When it is desired to undock the computer, a signal is transmitted to the control system which, in turn, energizes the module motor to cause the latching portion to release the docked computer, and the ejection portion to push the computer away from the module to thereby forcibly decouple the previously mated computer and docking station connectors.
Abstract:
A system is disclosed for inhibiting the corrosion of ferrous and other metals by passivating the metals. The system includes novel buffered compositions which may be applied to metal products for preventing or retarding corrosion and methods for applying the buffered compositions to metal products such that corrosion protection of the products is achieved through passivation. The methods include an in-situ application to existing structures with metal reinforcement as well as applications to metal products during manufacture. Generally, the compositions may be in various forms and comprise a carrier component and one or more pH buffer components. The buffer is selected to retain the proximity of the metal at a pH at which the metal is passive to corrosion. The compositions are environmentally friendly and are capable of replacing chromates which have been traditionally used with zinc and zinc alloys to inhibit corrosion of metals but which are potentially harmful to the environment.
Abstract:
The invention provides a termination assembly adapted to retain an elongated, generally rigid member, such as a wire, to a mounting surface. A mounting surface is configured to define a receiving channel, which may include an aperture. A deformable sleeve member is configured to engage the generally rigid member to be retained and the channel in the mounting member. Cooperative deformation of the deformable sleeve and the mounting member will cause the two members to deform to engage one another, thereby securing the generally rigid member to the mounting surface.
Abstract:
Novel compounds having activity against trypsin are disclosed. Specifically, novel peptide aldehyde analogues that have substantial potency and specificity as inhibitors of mammalian pancreatic trypsin are presented. The compounds are useful in the prevention and treatment of the tissue damage or destruction associated with pancreatitis.

Generally, the compositions may be in various forms and comprise a carrier component and one or more particulate pH buffer components. The particles of buffer are selected to retain the proximity of the metal at a pH at which the metal is passive to corrosion.
Abstract:
A new fiber optic connector housing and a new fiber optic receptacle, both of which conform to a new standard proposed by the X3T9.3 committee of the American National Standards Institute, are disclosed. In addition, four accessory devices for electro-optic modules, each of which includes one or more essentially conventional plug frames which fit into either one or more conventional, individual fiber optic connector housings or the new fiber optic connector housing, are disclosed.

Reagents suitable for synthesis of peptide analogs using automated peptide synthesis and procedures for synthesis of peptide analogs are provided.
Abstract:
Radar apparatus used for point-source location, where an adaptive feed forward artificial neural network is used to calculate a position vector from image information provided by radar receiving element outputs. Where an object is sensed within a field of view of a multiple output radar, then the radar receiving sensor element outputs are processed inputs as image vectors for use in input nodes of an input node layer of the artificial neural network. Typically the neural network has the same number of input nodes as the number of sensor element outputs an array within the radar receiver. Increased accuracy of point-source location can be achieved by increasing the number of hidden layers used, and/or increasing the number of nodes within each hidden layer. Training of the artificial neural network is described for (5.times.1), (1.times.5) and (4.times.4) radar receiving arrays, and also for idealised and noisy data.
