A data output apparatus checks data accumulated state in the accumulating unit at a preset check interval, and changes at least one setting among an initial accumulation amount to be used as a basis for starting to output the data accumulated in the accumulating unit, an upper accumulation limit amount to be used as a basis for discarding accumulated data, and a check interval, according to a discarded state of the data based on check results. Therefore, in the data output apparatus such as an IP telephony terminal apparatus, it is possible to prevent sound interruption and limit a lowering of communication quality.

A data processing apparatus edits an actual data portion excluding a header from data transmitted by streaming transmission from a first information processing apparatus after start of streaming transmission. The data processing apparatus transmits edited actual data portion and header to a second information processing apparatus by streaming transmission. The second information processing apparatus reproduces the voice data or the animation data transmitted by streaming transmission. The actual data portion is edited so that the voice data or the animation data to be transmitted may be reproducible in the second information processing apparatus, and so that a program may become unexecutable even if it would be transmitted to the second information processing apparatus. Even if the voice data or the animation data transmitted from the first information processing apparatus by streaming transmission would be deteriorated, an executable virus program does not transmitted to the second information processing apparatus, thereby that makes it possible to realize the streaming transmission method which can realize simple and high security.

A server apparatus renders a process result of software on an image memory that stores a display image to be displayed on a client terminal, detects an update area in which an update occurs between frames of an image. The server apparatus selectively switches and performs a first generation process and a second generation process according to the number of detected update areas. The first generation process is a process that generates a color map for each update area based on colors used in the update area. The second generation process is a process that generates a color map commonly used between the update areas based on colors used in images of the update areas. The server apparatus reduces the number of colors in an update area using the generated color map and transmits a compressed image of the update area to the client terminal.

Call connection is established between the connection apparatus and second communication apparatus not having the PoC function. In the connection apparatus, recorded is apparatus information for identifying each second communication apparatus. The connection apparatus has the function of acting as a proxy of the second communication apparatus identified by the apparatus information. This function consists of the function of performing half duplex communication with the repeating apparatus; the function of transmitting output data received from the second communication apparatus, to the repeating apparatus when the second communication apparatus has acquired transmission right; and the function of transmitting received output data to the second communication apparatus when the output data is received from the repeating apparatus.

A communication control method of this invention includes: when a call-in request to a chat for another participant in a voice-based teleconference by a first participant of the voice-based teleconference is received, transmitting the call-in request to the chat to a terminal of another participant; and when a participation response to the chat by another participant is received, carrying out a presence management setting so as to enable the first participant and a participant replying the participation response to update and subscribe dialogue contents of the chat, which are managed as presence data delivered to subscribers when updated. Thus, by using the presence technique, it becomes possible that the conference is shifted from the voice-based teleconference to the character-based teleconference and both of the conferences coexist.
