摘要: An optical recording element according to the present invention comprising: (i) a transparent substrate through which light passes; (ii) a transparent low-resistance layer having a specific resistance so as to prevent the adhesion of dust to the surface of the element caused by a static charge, the layer being formed on the surface, on which a light beam is incident, of the transparent substrate; and (iii) an optical thin film composed of at least one layer, formed on the other surface of the transparent substrate so as to transmit light beams used for recording, erasing and playback, and reflect lights which have wavelengths different from the wavelength of the above light beams and are within a specified visible region of the spectrum. With this arrangement, lights within a specified visible region of the spectrum are reflected so that the element appears to be colored according to the wavelengths of the reflected lights. Also, a problem often found in a conventional optical recording element having a transparent substrate of a resin material that the surface of the element is hardened by a light beam, can be solved. Even if a static charge is generated on the surface of such an element, the conductive transparent low-resistance substrate can eliminate the static charge outward whereby a static charge is less likely to be accumulated and the surface can be kept clean in order to improve the reliability.

摘要: A floating type magnetic head device of the present invention includes a slider capable of floating above a recording medium while moving relatively to the recording medium, and a magnetic head. The magnetic head is incorporated inside a cavity section formed substantially in the center of the slider. By incorporating the magnetic head inside the cavity section, the magnetic head can be protected, thereby reducing a possibility of head crash of the magnetic head due to its contact with dust or a projecting object existing on the surface of the recording medium. Further, by disposing the magnetic head substantially in the center of the slider, it can be avoided that the direction of an air stream at the center of the slider varies depending on an instantaneous position in a radial direction of the recording medium, thereby providing stable floating characteristics of the floating type magnetic head device and improving accuracy of recording.

摘要: A photo-mask for use in manufacturing an optical memory disc has a substrate having a disc shape and made of a transparent material, and a film deposited on the substrate and formed with a predetermined pattern of grooves extending spirally or concentrically to the center of the disc shaped substrate such as to leave a thin film at the bottom of the grooves, and a number of microscopic pits in the form of minute indentations with a predetermined spacing aligned along the grooves so as to substantially leave no film at the bottom of the indentations. Thus, a light which has passed through the thin film at grooves is weakened and a light which has passed through the indentations loses substantially no power, and a light applied elsewhere on the film is cut off. The photo-mask is made through the steps of depositing an opaque film on a substrate having a disc shape and made of a transparent material, impinging a first laser at places where the grooves are to be formed, and impinging a second laser at places where the pits are to be formed. The first laser is weaker in power than the second laser.

摘要: A first optical memory disc and a second optical memory disc are fixed to each other by an adhesive layer so as to form a dual-surface optical memory disc. In a manufacturing step, an adhesive, preferably pre-cured photo-polymer mixed with spherical spacer elements, is painted on either one of or both of the first and second optical memory discs. When a predetermined pressure is applied between the two optical memory discs, the thickness of the adhesive layer is fixed by the diameter of the spherical spacer elements. While the pressure is applied between the two optical memory discs, ultraviolet rays are applied to the adhesive layer through one of the first or second optical memory discs so as to cure the photo-polymer, thereby tightly joining the first and second optical memory discs to each other.

摘要: A process which enables high-chromium alloy such as ferrochromium heretofore obtained by the use of electricity to be produced less expensively in higher yield of chromium by the smelting reduction using solid carbonaceous material such as coke in the place of electricity. The process of smelting reduction is so performed in the top and bottom blowing converter divided into two stages: the first stage for carrying out the converter operation under continued supply of the raw materials containing pre-reduced chromium oxide (chromium ore) and the second stage for carrying out the converter operation under suspended supply of the raw materials containing the pre-reduced chromium oxide, and the first stage of converter operation is carried out under conditions such that the temperature of the molten metal remains at or below 1,650.degree. C. and the ratio of the volume of the gas generated per minute by the substances supplied through the tuyere for bottom blowing to the combined weight of the molten metal and the molten slag falls in the range of 100 to 2,500 [Nl/min.t] and the second stage of converter operation is carried out under conditions such that the temperature of the molten metal remains at or below 1,650.degree.
