    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A wireless node may establish a wireless connection between the wireless node and a second wireless node in a wireless backhaul communications network. The wireless node may identify a first set of common resources for use in at least one of access communications or backhaul communications. The first set of common resources is allocated for common use by the wireless nodes of the wireless backhaul communications network. The wireless node may identify a second set of partitioned resources available for at least one of access communications or backhaul communications. The second set partitioned into a plurality of subsets each allocated for use by selected subsets of one or more of the wireless nodes of the wireless backhaul communications network.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described that provide for synchronization signal (SS) blocks in which synchronization signals and broadcast channel transmissions may be transmitted. Broadcast channel transmissions may be demodulated using SS transmissions, reference signal transmissions, or combinations thereof. Broadcast channel transmissions may be transmitted in a subset of SS block time resources, and synchronization signals may be transmitted in another subset of SS block time resources. Reference signals may be transmitted using tones within the broadcast channel time resources, and may be transmitted at a higher density for portions of the broadcast channel transmission bandwidth that are outside of the SS transmission bandwidth. Waveforms for reference signal transmissions, and information provided by reference signal transmissions may be provided.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A base station may select a waveform configuration and a resource for a user equipment (UE) to use to transmit a random access channel (RACH) message 3 (msg3). The base station may transmit a value indicative of the waveform configuration to the UE, wherein the waveform configuration is further indicative of the selected resource. The UE may receive the value indication and identify the waveform configuration. Based on the waveform configuration, the UE may identify the resource to use to transmit the RACH msg3. The UE may transmit the RACH msg3 using the resource and according to the waveform configuration.

    Abstract: Described herein are methods, systems, and apparatus for jointly estimating channel and phase noise in a control symbol. In one example, a method for wireless communication is described that includes inserting a control tone at a first periodicity in a first subcarrier of a control symbol and inserting a pilot tone at a second periodicity in a second subcarrier of the control symbol, the pilot tone being offset from the control tone in the control symbol. The method also includes transmitting the control symbol. In another example, a method for wireless communication is described that includes receiving a control symbol comprising a control tone at a first periodicity, and a pilot tone at a second periodicity, the pilot tone being offset from the control tone in the control symbol. The method also includes performing a phase noise estimation and a channel estimation from the pilot tone.
