Abstract: Techniques are described herein related to communicating a quality of service (QoS) class identifier (QCI) for configuring physical (PHY) layer signaling. The QCI may be used to configure one or more transmission parameters of a device (e.g., a user equipment (UE) or a base station) at a PHY layer. The PHY layer may select the one or more transmission parameters to meet the QoS conditions of a given QoS class of a transport block being communicated. A modulation and coding scheme (MCS) value may be used as the QCI for the PHY layer, a channel quality indicator (CQI) value may be used as the QCI for the PHY layer, or a cell radio network temporary identifier (C-RNTI) may be used as the QCI for the PHY layer. In some cases, the QCI may be a single bit included in a downlink control message.

Abstract: A BS may transmit a first signal using a first group of one or more tones, transmit a second signal using a second group of one or more tones, and transmit a third signal using a third group of one or more tones in a GB between the first and second groups of tones. In one example, the transmitting comprises controlling a transmit power of at least one tone of the third group of one or more tones in the GB. The at least one tone of the third group of tones is on a different frequency grid than the first group of one or more tones or the second group of one or more tones. A UE may perform corresponding transmit power control operations for UL transmissions in a GB.

In some aspects, an access terminal may support a particular frame structure for a low power mode. Accordingly, scheduling of the access terminal may include use of the particular frame structure during low power mode.

Abstract: The disclosure provides for an apparatus for wireless communications using carrier aggregation comprised of multiple carrier components. The apparatus can include a processor configured to generate one or more instances of a codeword from a data payload. In an aspect, the apparatus also includes a modulator configured to modulate the one or more instances of the codeword onto the multiple carrier components for transmission. In an aspect, the apparatus also includes a resource manager configured to provide the processor with a virtual carrier space comprising a logical carrier having a contiguous bandwidth equivalent to the aggregated bandwidth of the multiple carrier components. In an aspect, the process may be further configured to interleave at least one of the codeword instances across the multiple carrier components. In an aspect, the modulator may be configured to modulate the codeword instance onto the multiple carrier components in accordance to the interleaving.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide a self-contained subframe structure for time division duplex (TDD) carriers. Information transmitted on a TDD carrier may be grouped into subframes, and each subframe can provide communications in both directions (e.g., uplink and downlink) to enable such communications without needing further information in another subframe. In one aspect of the disclosure, a single subframe may include scheduling information, data transmission corresponding to the scheduling information, and acknowledgment packets corresponding to the data transmission. Furthermore, the subframe may additionally include a header and/or a trailer to provide certain bi-directional communications functions.

Abstract: Wireless communication devices are adapted to facilitate multiplexing of reference signals. According to one example, a wireless communication device can multiplex a first reference signal and a second reference signal utilizing code division multiplexing for transmission across a first resource element and a second resource element. The first resource element may utilize a first subcarrier in a first OFDM symbol employing a first numerology. The second resource element may utilize a second subcarrier in a second OFDM symbol employing a second numerology that is different from the first numerology, where the second subcarrier overlaps in frequency at least a portion of the first subcarrier. The first and second OFDM including the multiplexed first and second reference signals may subsequently be transmitted. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also included.

Abstract: Compressed modulation feedback in codeword transmission with per-layer-modulation mapping is discussed. In the proposed compression schemes, the number of bits of feedback is compressed by excluding some of the allowed combinations of per-layer modulation orders. The excluded combinations are determined according to a fixed index delta, which prohibits any one modulation scheme being selected that has an index difference greater than the fixed index delta. The transmitting entity may then send per-layer modulation parameters, which may be the actual modulation orders identified or some relative parameter.
