    Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for indication of asymmetric default operating frequencies (DOFs) for bidirectional communications. In one aspect, a first device may report to the second device that the first device is using either a same DOF for communications in different transmission directions or different DOFs for the different transmission directions. Based on the reported DOF(s), the second device may use beam correspondence-based beam relationships on the different transmission directions if the DOFs are the same and resource block allocations for the communications in both transmission directions are closely matched in frequencies. Alternatively, if the DOFs are different for the different transmission directions, the second device may adjust either a codebook parameter or may use an appropriate antenna panel. Additionally, or alternatively, the second device may direct the first device to use respective antenna subarrays with similar DOFs.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A first wireless device may receive a first beam measurement report from a second wireless device, the first beam measurement report indicating a first set of beam measurements for a wireless channel between the first wireless device and the second wireless device. The first wireless device may transmit to the second wireless device a cluster validity metric for at least one beam in the first beam measurement report. The first wireless device may receive from the second wireless device, in response to transmitting the cluster validity metric, a second beam measurement report indicating a second set of beam measurements for the wireless channel. The first wireless device may select a beam for transmitting to the second wireless device based at least in part on the first and second beam measurement reports.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Multiple user equipments (UEs) may communicate as part of a sidelink communications system. The UEs may identify a frame for a sidelink connection. The frame may include a control portion and a data portion. One UE of a pair of UEs may receive a data signal from the other UE of the pair, and the data signal may be received in the data portion of the first instance of the frame and in the control portion of a second instance of the frame. Another pair of UEs may attempt to reserve a subsequent data portion by transmitting a request signal in the control portion in the second instance of the frame, and the second pair of UEs may receive a suppression signal from the first pair of UEs indicating ongoing data transmission by the first pair of UEs.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A first user equipment (UE) may transmit, to a second UE, a first request message indicating a request to transmit a first sidelink message in a first slot of a sidelink network, and may transmit the first sidelink message in a first data section of the first slot based on transmitting the first request message. The first UE may monitor a first portion of a control section of a second slot of the sidelink network for request messages or response messages. The first UE may transmit a second request message in a portion of the second control section of the second slot designated for scheduling ongoing transmissions, and may transmit a second sidelink message in at least one portion of the second slot based on transmitting the second request message.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which a first wireless device and second wireless device may establish communications using a first beam and a second beam. The first wireless device may perform separate radio link monitoring (RLM) procedures to monitor beam quality for each of a transmit beam and receive beam that are used for communications with a second wireless device. The separate RLM procedures may be used at the first wireless device to determine that one of the transmit or receive beams is experiencing a quality degradation or a radio link failure (RLF), and an RLF indication may be provided to the second wireless device.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which a first wireless device, such as a user equipment (UE), may select a set of different groups of antenna elements that are preferred for use in millimeter wave communications at the first wireless device. The first wireless device may provide one or more parameters to a second wireless device that indicates a number of antenna elements of one or more of the groups of antenna elements that is used to determine one or more transmission control parameters. The second wireless device may determine one or more transmission control parameters based on the indicated parameters and number of antenna elements, which may be used for communications with the first wireless device.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for implementation of higher rank transmissions (e.g., higher rank line of sight (LOS) schemes) over a given beam direction associated with a selected transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state. According to some aspects, expanded antenna arrays, spatial separation (e.g., distance) between antenna elements, lower carrier frequencies (e.g., associated with frequency range 4 (FR4) systems), etc. may be leveraged to communicate uncorrelated signals (e.g., independent streams across spatial layers) for higher rank transmissions using a given TCI state (e.g., using a single beam direction). Various aspects of the described techniques may provide for higher rank directional communications by a user equipment (UE) (e.g., via uncorrelation in a single UE), higher rank directional communications by select UEs (e.g., via uncorrelation across specific UEs), base station antenna selection for uncorrelation at multiple served UEs, etc.
