Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The method includes identifying that the user equipment (UE) is to use a two-step random access channel (RACH) procedure that includes a first message (e.g., uplink request message) and a second message (e.g., downlink response). The methods include sending, as a first message of the two-step RACH procedure, the uplink request message to a base station, receiving, from the base station, a physical downlink control channel comprising an indication of resources of a broadcast or multicast physical downlink shared channel on which the downlink response is to be received, and receiving the downlink response from the base station on the broadcast or multicast physical downlink shared channel. The physical downlink shared channel may be configured to provide downlink responses for one or multiple UEs.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may identify that the UE is configured to use a two-step random access channel (RACH) procedure. The two-step RACH procedure may include an uplink request message and a downlink response. The UE may transmit the uplink request message as part of the two-step RACH procedure, and the uplink request message may include a preamble portion that is one of a set of predefined sequences and a payload portion that includes a physical uplink shared channel waveform. The UE may receive the downlink response as part of the two-step RACH procedure and in response to the uplink request message.

An example method for passive positioning of a user equipment includes receiving a first positioning reference signal from a first station at a first time, receiving a second positioning reference signal from a second station at a second time, receiving a turnaround time value associated with the first positioning reference signal and the second positioning reference signal, and a distance value based on a location of the first station and a location of the second station, and determining a time difference of arrival based at least in part on the turnaround time value, the distance value, the first time, and the second time.

Abstract: A base station may configure a set of autonomous uplink (AUL) resources for a specific base station receive beam, or the AUL resources may be configured for specific user equipment (UEs) or user groups. Additionally, the AUL resources may be configured to include a sensing portion, a data portion, or both. As an example, a UE may receive an AUL configuration that includes an indication of a set of AUL resources that are specific to a base station receive beam. The UE may then determine that the set of AUL resources is available and perform an AUL transmission of uplink data using the set of beam-specific AUL resources. Additionally or alternatively, the UE may perform the AUL transmission with respective portions that include a sensing signal and the uplink data. The base station may use the sensing signal to determine a receive beam on which to receive the uplink data.

Abstract: Systems and methods related to UL communications in a wireless network are provided. A UE receives an indication of a plurality of TXOPs for a RACH procedure from a BS. In an embodiment, the UE starts a timer after either successfully transmitting a random access message to the BS or failing to succeed in any of the TXOPs. In another embodiment, the UE starts the timer at a pre-agreed time after one of the TXOPs, regardless of whether the random access message has been successfully transmitted yet or not. In another embodiment, the UE receives as part of a RACH response an indication of whether the RACH response is split into multiple parts. If the UE does not locate an identifier corresponding to the UE in the RACH response, the UE checks for the indication and, if present, listen for the next RACH response identified from the indication.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for enhancements to channel state information (CSI) reporting. A method that may be performed by a user equipment (UE) includes obtaining, from a network entity, a CSI reporting configuration for reporting CSI for a channel. The method further includes generating a model of an interference pattern for the channel, and predicting one or more candidate interference levels for one or more upcoming slots using the model. The method further includes reporting information regarding the candidate interference levels to the network entity.

Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatuses for a beam-based channel access countdown procedure. In one aspect, a channel sensing beam may be permitted to include one or more transmit beams and, thus, may differ from a transmit beam that is to be used for a transmission. As such, defining a manner in which a channel access countdown procedure is performed is desirable. Some aspects described herein provide techniques and apparatus for a beam-based channel access countdown procedure. In some aspects, the systems, methods, and apparatuses described herein provide a beam-based channel access countdown procedure that allows a single channel sensing beam, including multiple transmit beams, to be utilized in association with determining channel availability for the multiple transmit beams, thereby improving performance of beam-based directional transmissions.

Abstract: Cell acquisition is disclosed in frequency diversity configured for frame based equipment (FBE) access, such as using opportunistic frequency switching. A user equipment (UE) begins cell acquisition by synchronizing to an available communication channel of an available cell in response to detection of a synchronization signal block (SSB) associated with a network on which the UE communicates. The UE receives system information associated with the available cell from a serving base station, wherein the system information includes identification of at least: a link indicator identifying linked communication channels available for opportunistic switching, sensing occasion offsets for each of the linked channels, and access information associated with each of the linked channels. The UE measures a channel quality for each available channel. The base station transmits this system information on each of the linked channels and then monitors the allocated random access resources for signals from the UEs.
