Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to uplink preemption in certain systems, such as new radio (NR) systems, supporting carrier aggregation (CA) and/or multi-connectivity modes. A method for wireless communication, that can be performed by a user equipment (UE), generally includes receiving a resource assignment scheduling the UE for uplink transmission. The UE receives an indication to preempt uplink transmission on a portion of the assigned resources and determines whether to transmit on the remaining assigned resources. A method that can be performed by a base station (BS) generally includes receiving an indication from one or more UEs indicating, for each of a plurality of band combinations, a capability of the UE to transmit on a band when transmission on another band in the band combination is preempted and scheduling the one or more UEs for uplink transmission based on the indication.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A transmitting device, such as a base station or a user equipment (UE), may generate a first set of encoded bits using a polar code. The transmitting device may transmit the first set of encoded bits to a receiving device, but the receiving device may unsuccessfully receive the transmission. The transmitting device may prepare a retransmission by generating a second set of encoded bits. In some cases, the transmitting device may copy information bits from the first transmission to polarized channels when generating the polar code for the retransmission. The transmitting device may copy information bits based on how the information bits were assigned for the first transmission as well as the block length. The transmitting device may copy information bits such that the retransmission is self-decodable.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Some wireless communications systems may support hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) schemes to improve the likelihood that information is received correctly over a wireless communications link. In HARQ, when a transmitting device determines that a receiving device failed to successfully decode a transmission of information, the transmitting device may retransmit the information to the receiving device. In some cases, HARQ techniques may be used for communications associated with different types of services. In such cases, to keep the latency of communications within a latency budget for a particular type of service, wireless devices may utilize the techniques described herein to dynamically terminate HARQ retransmissions. For instance, a transmitting device may avoid retransmitting information when an amount of time that has elapsed since an original transmission of the information has exceeded the latency budget.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for a user equipment (UE) to set uplink power control for a long uplink burst and a short uplink burst. The UE receives uplink power control information including a first set of power control parameters for a long uplink burst and a second set of power control parameters for a short uplink burst with the sets of power control parameters being different from each other. The UE configures uplink power control for the long uplink burst based at least on the first set of power control parameters and the short uplink burst based at least on the second set of power control parameters. The UE sends at least one of a long uplink burst and a short uplink burst based on the corresponding uplink power control and sends at least one uplink power-headroom report for the long uplink burst and short uplink burst.

The method generally includes encoding a set of information bits based on a LDPC code to produce a code word, the LDPC code defined by a matrix having a first number of variable nodes and a second number of check nodes, puncturing the code word to produce a punctured code word, wherein the puncturing is performed according to a first puncturing pattern designed to puncture bits corresponding to one or more of the variable nodes having a certain degree of connectivity to the check nodes, and transmitting the punctured code word.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described for grant-free admission control to a shared channel. A base station may select an admission control parameter from a set of admission control parameters, the selected admission control parameter setting a grant-free access threshold for determining eligibility to obtain grant-free access to resources of a shared channel. The base station may transmit the selected admission control parameter to configure a user equipment (UE) with the grant-free access threshold. A UE may receive an admission control parameter from the base station, and set a grant-free access threshold based at least in part on the admission control parameter. The UE may determine eligibility to obtain grant-free access to resources of a shared channel based at least in part on the grant-free access threshold, and communicate with the base station based at least in part on the determined eligibility.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for efficiently determining whether to transmit an uplink transmission scheduled by a semi-static grant or a dynamic uplink transmission scheduled by a dynamic grant when the dynamic uplink transmission conflicts with the uplink transmission scheduled by the semi-static grant. In particular, if a user equipment (UE) determines that a dynamic grant is received within a threshold time before an uplink transmission scheduled by a semi-static grant, the UE may transmit the uplink transmission scheduled by the semi-static grant and refrain from transmitting the dynamic transmission. Alternatively, if the UE determines that a dynamic grant is received in advance of a threshold time before an uplink transmission scheduled by a semi-static grant, the UE may transmit the dynamic transmission and refrain from transmitting the uplink transmission scheduled by the semi-static grant.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide a number of groups of transmitters, each group of transmitters having at least one user equipment (UE), and each group of transmitters having an associated transmission opportunity (TXO) for transmission of a reference signal. A number of UEs may transmit transmissions to a base station according to non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) techniques in which two or more UEs concurrently transmit to the base station. Depending upon a number of UEs, a number of groups of transmitters, an overloading factor of NOMA transmissions, a system bandwidth, a time span of the reference signal TXO, or any combination thereof, a binary or non-binary orthogonal cover code (OCC) may be applied to transmitted reference signals, which the base station may use to identify reference signals from particular UEs.
