    Abstract: Wireless communications systems and methods related to performing paging operations in a shared radio frequency band (e.g., in a shared spectrum or an unlicensed spectrum) with an improved paging reliability. A first user equipment (UE) determines a frequency hopping pattern for a paging occasion window (POW) in a plurality of frequency subbands within a shared radio frequency band. The first UE monitors for a paging message from a base station (BS) in the POW, where the monitoring includes hopping from at least a first frequency subband of the plurality of frequency subbands to a second frequency subband of the plurality of frequency subbands based on the frequency hopping pattern.

    Abstract: Various features related to eMTC-U deployment are described. In an aspect of the disclosure, an apparatus (e.g., a base station) maybe configured to select a subset of non-anchor channels from a set of available non-anchor channels, where the subset of non-anchor channels may correspond to a bandwidth within an unlicensed band. The apparatus maybe further configured to transmit information indicating the subset of non-anchor channels via an anchor channel. In some configurations, the subset of non-anchor channels maybe selected based on channel measurements performed by the base station or a UE. In one aspect, a UE may receive, from a base station via an anchor channel, information indicating a subset of non-anchor channels selected from a set of available non-anchor channels. The UE may transmit data on one or more non-anchor channel of the subset of non-anchor channels.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for multiplexing of uplink channels in a shared radio frequency spectrum band. Techniques may provide for segmenting uplink resources into multiple different sets of uplink resources, each set of uplink resources having one or more associated uplink control channel resources. A base station or user equipment (UE) may select a set of uplink resources from the multiple sets of uplink resources for uplink transmissions from the UE based on a location of the uplink control channel resources of the set of uplink resources relative to other allocated uplink resources of the UE. Uplink control information (UCI) may be multiplexed with one or more uplink shared channel transmissions of a UE for transmission to a base station in certain circumstances.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A base station may identify a plurality of downlink carriers for a transmission time interval (TTI), e.g., a subframe. The base station may identify a period of inactivity for one or more of the plurality of downlink carriers during the TTI, which may correspond to one or more orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols of the subframe. The base station may transmit narrowband reference signals (NB-RSs) over the one or more carriers during the period of inactivity according to a channel reservation narrowband reference signal (NB-RS) pattern. The channel reservation NB-RS pattern may include a first set of time-frequency resources associated with a baseline NB-RS pattern and a second set of supplemental time-frequency resources associated with a period of inactivity.

    Abstract: Base station contention window update procedures with autonomous uplink (AUL) in a transmission opportunity (TxOP) is discussed. After acquiring a channel and scheduling the TxOP, a base station may transmit control signals to manage communications with served user equipments (UEs). Management of AUL communications in addition to update of the contention window may be determined based on whether the base station has either or both downlink data and scheduled uplink (SUL) transmissions scheduled for the TxOP. Where both downlink and SUL are scheduled, AUL transmissions are allowed, but update of the contention window uses feedback based on the downlink transmissions. Where SUL are scheduled, but no downlink data, AUL are allowed and the contention window is updated using performance information on the uplink transmissions. Finally, where neither data nor SUL are scheduled, the base station deactivate any AUL resources for the TxOP and will refrain from updating the contention window.
