    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A relay node may establish a control plane connection between the relay node and a base station, wherein establishing the control plane connection comprises receiving from the base station a first network identifier for the relay node. The relay node may receive, via the control plane connection, a relay configuration from the base station. The relay node may monitor grants associated with a set of one or more user equipment (UEs) based at least in part on the relay configuration, each UE comprising a network identifier that is different from the first network identifier. The relay node may relay communications between the base station and the set of one or more UEs according to the monitoring.

    Abstract: In order to improve the selection of search space candidates for a downlink control channel, an apparatus determines a set of decoding candidates of a lower aggregation level for a downlink control channel based on a random selection from a plurality of potential decoding candidates, wherein the plurality of potential decoding candidates are defined from a second set of decoding candidates of a higher aggregation level. The apparatus then attempts to decode the downlink control channel based on determined sets of decoding candidates of different aggregation levels. The downlink control channel may comprise a PDCCH.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for a two-step random access channel (RACH) procedure in which uplink random access preamble and message transmission occasions may span multiple transmission slots. Reference signal resources for transmitting a reference signal with a first random access message of the two-step RACH procedure may include at least one symbol in each of the multiple transmission slots. The reference signal resources, reference signal sequence, or both, may be identified based on a particular uplink random access message transmission occasion, random access preamble transmission occasion, random access preamble sequence configuration, or any combinations thereof.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that support feedback for multicast communications. A user equipment (UE) in a group of UEs may receive multicast information from a base station in a downlink (DL) transmission scheduled by a DL grant. The DL grant may also indicate a set of uplink resources for the group of UEs to use to transmit feedback. The UE may attempt to decode a message containing the multicast information in the DL transmission. If the UE determines the message was successfully decoded, the UE may send no feedback to the base station. If the UE determines the message was not successfully decoded, the UE may transmit a feedback message to the base station to indicate the message was unsuccessfully decoded. The base station may monitor for the feedback message and determine to retransmit the multicast information if the feedback message is received.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for generating and reporting a reference power headroom report (PHR) for New Radio (NR). A user equipment (UE) decides to report a reference power headroom (PH) for at least one carrier frequency in a transmission time interval (TTI). The UE determines at least one of an index (j) of a target received power of a Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PUSCH) to be transmitted in the TTI and a path loss scaling factor, an index (qd) of a reference signal used for measuring path loss for the carrier frequency, or an index (l) of a power control process used for the carrier frequency. The UE then calculates the reference PH based on one or more of the determined at least one index, and reports, in the TTI, a PHR including the reference PH for the carrier frequency.

    Abstract: This disclosure describes methods, devices, and systems for techniques related to random access procedures, such as a two-step random access procedure. Generally, the described techniques support physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) occasion (PO) aggregation in random access procedures, including aggregation configurations and communication schemes that support enhanced data transmissions, such as small data transmissions, in random access procedures. In some examples, the described techniques may include aggregating POs in a time domain, or a frequency domain, or both. A device, such as a user equipment (UE) may aggregate, in one or more of a time domain or a frequency domain, multiple POs of a set of POs, and transmit, to a device such as a base station, a random access payload of a random access message on a PUSCH using time and frequency resources of the aggregated multiple POs.
