    Abstract: Techniques are disclosed relating to control data for retransmissions in wireless communications. In various embodiments, a UE sends acknowledgements (e.g., HARQ acknowledgements) at code block group (CBG) granularity. CBGs may be included in codewords that may be transmitted using multiple MIMO layers. In some embodiments, the network is configured to send a new data indicator for each CBG. In some embodiments, the network is configured to use a different number of layers for a retransmission of a CBG than for the original transmission. Thus, the layer-to-CBG or layer-to-codeword mapping may be specified dynamically. In various embodiments, the disclosed techniques may improve overall network bandwidth relative to traditional retransmission techniques.

    Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods to dynamically indicate preference for self-contained slots and slot duration by a user equipment device (UE) in communication with a base station (e.g., a gNB) using a 5G NR radio access technology. A UE may determine to send an indication to a gNB indicating a preference for self-contained slots and slot duration for downlink and/or uplink communications utilizing one or more of the physical downlink control channel (PDCCH), the physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH), and/or acknowledgement messaging (ACK/NACK) for downlink communications, and utilizing one or more of the physical uplink control channel (PUCCH), the PDCCH, and/or the physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) for uplink communications. The configuration of self-contained slots and slot duration for uplink and/or downlink may be based on one or more of average packet size, average packet rate, traffic type and UE processing capabilities.

    Abstract: Apparatus and methods for a hybrid automatic repeat request (H-ARQ) mechanism for wireless communication devices of a wireless local area network (WLAN) are disclosed. Methods and apparatus to determine whether a packet is an original, first transmission or a retransmission of a previously transmitted packet without decoding the payload of the packet are disclosed. Medium access control (MAC) addresses of a transmitter, such as an access point (AP), and a receiver, such as a station (STA), of a WLAN are encoded separately with a retransmission bit to indicate whether the packet is retransmitted. For an aggregated MAC protocol data unit (A-MPDU), a sequence number is included to determine which MAC protocol data units (MPDUs) of the A-MPDU are retransmitted. When retransmission is indicated, the receiver of the STA performs a hybrid automatic repeat request (H-ARQ) process to combine the retransmitted packet with previously received packets.

A cellular base station may provide synchronization signals according to a periodic pattern, including transmitting one or more synchronization signal bursts each including one or more synchronization signal blocks. A wireless device may detect a synchronization signal block. The wireless device may determine a synchronization signal block index of the detected synchronization signal block. The wireless device may provide an indication of the synchronization signal block index of the detected synchronization signal block to the cellular base station.

    Abstract: A method performed at a base station and a corresponding method performed at a station receiving a transmission from the base station. The methods relate to signaling the station as to a number of PDCCH information that is included in the transmission so the station may terminate a search when the station has identified the PDCCHs in the transmission. The method performed by the station includes receiving the transmission that includes at least one PDCCH information, each PDCCH information having a respective mapped downlink control information (DCI). The method further includes detecting one of the PDCCH information in the transmission and determining lengths of information bits of the DCI and the PDCCH information. The method also includes terminating a search for a further one of the PDCCH information when a first type of padding is used for the mapping of the DCI over the PDCCH information based on the lengths.
