A two stroke engine having an exhaust port formed in the cylinder wall. At the upper portion of the exhaust port, there is provided a rotary type exhaust timing control valve which is adapted to be actuated by an electric servomotor to control the exhaust timing in accordance with the engine speed. A control circuit is provided for controlling a power supply to the servomotor in accordance with the engine speed and the position of the valve. A timer switch is provided for providing a power supply to the control circuit for a certain time after the engine ignition switch is turned off so that the valve is moved to the retracted position after the engine is stopped. As the valve is thus moved to the retracted position, carbon deposits on the valve is scraped off by a scraping edge formed in the cylinder.

The rotary distributor includes internal cavities which may connect through ports in its outer cylindrical surface with the working cylinders to control the flow of intake air, scavenging air and/or fuel to the working cylinders. Scavenging air can be precompressed either in a preceding cylinder, taken in ignition order, or in the crank chambers beneath the pistons.

The invention discloses a two-stroke internal combustion engine having an engine housing with a crankcase in which a crankshaft is connected to a piston moving in a cylinder, an exhaust port leading from the cylinder space and opening at the level of the lower dead center of the crankshaft, the exhaust port is configured to be closed by a piston when the crankshaft is in its top dead center position, characterized in that it further has a rotary disk with an opening or recess on a part of its circumference, or with a protrusion on a part of its circumference, the rotary disk extending with its circumference into the exhaust port so that the exhaust port is completely closable by the rotary disk.
