Abstract: A detangling device for severing a mooring line is disclosed. The device includes a line cutting assembly, which includes an ignition device, a propellant chamber, a moveable shuttle-knife assembly and a knife. The device further includes a pressure sensor, and a control system configured to monitor the pressure sensor and actuate the line cutting assembly when the monitored pressure sensor indicates a threshold depth is exceeded. The device can be a one-use device, wherein the knife breaks through a water-sealed housing to sever a mooring line when actuated.

Abstract: A technique for calculating the motion and stress at any location along a riser or mooring line that is connected to an oil platform using data from multiple motion sensors that are installed above the water level on the platform is disclosed. A relationship between motion at the locations of the motion sensors and motion at the point at which the riser or mooring line is attached to the platform is determined from a model of the platform. From this relationship, the motion at the location at which the riser or mooring line is attached to the platform is computed from motion that is measured by the motion sensors. The motion and stress at any location along the riser or the mooring line is calculated based on the acceleration at the location at which the riser or mooring line is attached to the platform.

Abstract: A hydraulic mooring cable holding device provides a hydraulic cylinder-piston combination (20) for controlling the force on a mooring cable between one end of a ship and a mooring point. An overpressure protection part (26) with hydraulic liquid passing from the hydraulic cylinder (20) to a reservoir (260) when the pressure in the cylinder exceeds a threshold value, and returns the hydraulic liquid when the pressure has dropped. An auxiliary reservoir (24) with a steeper pressure response than the main reservoir (260) is connected in parallel with the main reservoir. The auxiliary reservoir may be connected to and/or disconnected from the cylinder under control of a sensor or a further mooring device at the other end of the ship, to reduce movement of the ship e.g. in swell. Furthermore, pressure from the auxiliary reservoir may be used to drive an electric generator.

Abstract: A floating dock includes a frame, a float, and first and second dock posts. The frame has a first longitudinal section and a second longitudinal that define a slip there between. Abstract: A connector includes a male, key-like member that is operably received in a female connector body. The key-like member includes a stem for operative association with a cord or other body and a distal element. The female connector has a body defining a proximal portion for operative association with a cord or other body and a slot extending along a surface of the body to an aperture for receiving a distal element of a first connector element. A first inside channel extends from the slot at a distal end of the connector to a depth from the surface of the slot. A second inside channel extends from the aperture to the first channel. One of the first and second connectors is provided with a sensor. The sensor indicates that the first connector element is located at the distal portion of the inside channel.

The spacing-apart mechanism is able to move the grasping member between a spaced-apart configuration of the second point in the deployed position of the grasping member and a grasping configuration in an intermediate position between the deployed position and the retracted position.
