摘要: A method includes obtaining a short exposure color-infrared (color-IR) image captured with an activated infrared (IR) illuminator and a long exposure color-IR image captured with a deactivated IR illuminator. The short exposure color-IR image is captured with a shorter exposure time than the long exposure color-IR image. The method includes determining an IR light impact of the of the short exposure color-IR image and of the long exposure color-IR image. The method includes mitigating the IR light impact in the short exposure color-IR image to obtain a short exposure IR-suppressed color image. The method includes mitigating the IR light impact in the long exposure color-IR image to obtain a long exposure IR-suppressed color image. The method includes merging the short exposure IR-suppressed color image with the long exposure IR-suppressed color image to obtain a merged HDR image.

摘要: The invention features an image reader and a corresponding method for capturing a sharp distortion free image of a target, such as a one or two-dimensional bar code. In one embodiment, the image reader comprises a two-dimensional CMOS based image sensor array, a timing module, an illumination module, and a control module. The time during which the target is illuminated is referred to as the illumination period. The capture of the image by the image sensor array is driven by the timing module that, in one embodiment, is able to simultaneously expose substantially all of the pixels in the array. The time during which the pixels are collectively activated to photo-convert incident light into charge defines the exposure period for the sensor array. In one embodiment, at least a portion of the exposure period occurs during the illumination period.

In one disclosed embodiment, a sensing system includes a plurality of infrared (IR) sensing elements to generate an IR portion of an image and a plurality of visible light (VL) sensing elements to generate one or more VL portions of the image. A processing device identifies a source parameter characterizing a photon count associated with the IR portion of the image relative to the photon count associated with the one or more VL portions of the image, and determines, using the source parameter, one or more settings of the sensing system.

摘要: An optical sensor, for sensing a sensing frame corresponding to a flicker period of ambient light, comprising: a pixel array, configured to perform N times of exposure operations via at least one pixel of the pixel array in N exposure time intervals to generate N sub-frames, wherein a summation of the N exposure time intervals equals to a sensing interval and the sensing interval is less than or identical to a first flicker period. The optical sensor adds the N sub-frames to generate a summing sub-frame. The sensing frame comprises the summing sub-frame. The adding operation can also be performed to digital signals generated from the sub-frames. The influences caused by the fluctuation of ambient light can be neutralized, since the frame or portion of the frame is sensed at least twice at different phases of a single flicked period. By this way, the conventional flicker issue can be improved.
