A spraying system having a plurality of spray nozzle assemblies mounted on a common liquid supply header. The spray nozzle assemblies each include a nozzle body fixed to the header and a spray tip secured to the body as an incident to rotation of the spray tip relative to the body. Each spray tip has an elongated discharge orifice adapted for emitting a flat spray pattern and is formed with radial gripping wings in aligned relation to the elongated discharge orifice which enable the user to know the orientation of the discharge orifice, and hence the orientation of the flat discharging spray pattern, prior to start up of a spray operation. The nozzle bodies further each are formed with at least one pair of indicator nibs, which when disposed in longitudinal alignment with the liquid supply header, automatically establishes an orientation of the spray tip elongated discharge orifice at a predetermined relative small angle to the axis of the header so as to avoid impingement of the discharging flat spray patterns of adjacent nozzle assemblies. An alternative embodiment of a spray tip has a slightly modified locking lug design for effecting mounting of the spray tip in the common body with the discharge orifice aligned with the axis of the fluid supply header. Further alternative embodiments include a spray nozzle with a swivel mounted adapter and quick disconnect spray tip, or with an adapter having a screw-in orifice defining insert for the particular spray application.

In a dispense tip adapter system, an adapter unit provides for compatibility between high-performance dispensing needles and conventional dispensing pump systems. The dispensing pump includes an outlet through which dispensed material is delivered, and includes an output body with alignment pins extending therefrom and first threads about the body. The dispensing needle includes a longitudinally-disposed body and neck, the body and neck including a longitudinal port providing a path for delivery of the dispensed material through the dispensing needle. The body of the dispensing needle includes an outer surface that is keyed for angular positioning of the needle with respect to the pump. The adapter includes an alignment plate, and index plate and an adapter nut. The alignment plate comprises a plurality of alignment holes for mating with the alignment pins, a material aperture aligned with the pump outlet, and a plurality of index pins extending from the body of the alignment plate. The index plate comprises a plurality of index holes for mating with the index pins, the index holes spaced to provide for positioning of the index plate with respect to the alignment plate at a plurality of discrete angular positions. The index plate includes an orientation pocket having a keyed inner surface substantially matched to the outer surface of the body of the dispensing needle. The nut has an inner recess for containing the index plate and the alignment plate, and further includes a pin aperture in alignment with the orientation pocket and second threads for mating with the first threads. When the nut is tightened, index plate and alignment plate are secured against the pump output body.

Each spray nipple includes a nozzle body and a securing sleeve member. The nozzle body is made of a deformable material, and includes a stem portion with a shank end fitted to a respective inner peripheral wall in the face plate, a tapered end extending outwardly of a front major wall of the face plate, and a shoulder portion formed at a juncture of the shank and tapered ends. An enlarged head portion is secured to the shank end opposite to the tapered end, and defines an abutment shoulder to abut against a rear major wall of the face plate. A spray passageway extends from the stem portion through the enlarged head portion. Thus, the tapered end is bendable relative to the front major wall such that particulate dirt will be bounced out of the spray passageway once the tapered end swings back to its original state. The securing sleeve member is sleeved on the shank end, and abuts against the shoulder portion and the front major wall to cooperate with the abutment shoulder to clamp the face plate therebetween so as to secure the respective spray nipple to the face plate.

A fluidic component of this kind, made, for example, of silicon/glass is arranged in an elastomeric shaped component, made, for example, of silicon rubber. The inner contours of the elastomeric shaped component correspond to the outer contours of the fluidic component. The outer contours of the shaped component corresponds to the inner contours of a holder. Due to this “floating mounting” there are no unacceptable local pressure peaks and no deformation of the fluidic component. The device is particularly suitable for mounting a fluidic component made of glass or silicon, or miniature dimensions, subject to high pressure.
