Abstract:
A multi-display device can interface with two or more different types of docking stations. The device can determine the type of dock and change the pin outs for a connector to interface with that dock. Once docked, the device can determine a charge status for the device and the dock to present the status to the user. Further, the dock can enter one of several modes, including a call receipt mode and an entertainment mode. The modes allow for expanded functionality for the device while docked. Two particular docks, the laptop dock and the smart dock, provide special functionality with the device.
Abstract:
A handheld electronic device has two or more displays and sensors operative to indicate the handheld electronic device has been rotated, turned, or flipped so that a first display originally being viewed by a user is now facing away from a user. The processor changes displayed information of the newly displayed content on a second display based upon information displayed in the first display. When the handheld electronic device is returned to its original orientation, previously displayed content on the first display is restored or resumed, or is modified based on information entered in the second display just viewed.
Abstract:
Detection of a change in physical configuration of a discrete device with respect to an electronic device leads to responsively changing application functionality of the electronic device as a function, at least in part, of information provided by the discrete device. By one approach the detected change can pertain to movement of the discrete device with respect to the electronic device or orientation of a coupling of the discrete device to the electronic device. This information can comprise at least a unique identification code. In such a case these teachings will accommodate using the unique identification code to access a corresponding profile for the discrete device where the profile specifies at least one application to be presently made available using the discrete device.
Abstract:
A mobile terminal device including a first housing, a second housing, the device having multiple configurations, including a first configuration in which the second housing is closed with respect to the first housing, a second configuration in which the second housing is slid relative to the first housing from the first configuration, and a third configuration in which the first housing is separated from the second housing, and a first input key is provided on the first housing, and is covered with the second housing in the first and second configurations and is exposed in the third configuration.
Abstract:
Methods and devices to determine a mobile device housing position are described. An example device disclosed herein includes a housing having a first portion movably coupled to a second portion, the second portion to have a first position, a second position, and at least one intermediate position relative to the first portion, wherein the intermediate position is between the first and second positions; a position detector in the first portion, the position detector to measure a transitional magnetic field when the second portion is in the intermediate position and to measure a second magnetic field; and a processor to determine that the second portion is in the first position or the second position based on the transitional magnetic field and the second magnetic field.
Abstract:
A mobile terminal device is provided which can be used without an incongruous feeling. In Step S14, it is determined whether or not the operated application is the second display state (landscape display). When it is determined that the application is not the landscape display, the process is transferred to Step S15, and the key operation functions assigned to the keys b1 to b6 of the “TURN-CLOSE STATE (LENGTHWISE)” of the key assignment table are assigned to the keys b1 to b6. In Step S14, when it is determined that the operated application is the landscape display, the process is transferred to Step S16, the key operation functions assigned to the keys b1 to b6 of “TURN-CLOSE STATE (WIDTHWISE)” of the key assignment table are assigned to the keys b1 to b6, and the key operation unit in the turn-close state has the same function as the cross key 15a.
Abstract:
A portable device suitable for various multimedia environments includes: a main body; a folder; and a hinge unit mounted on the main body and rotatably connecting the folder to the main body. The hinge unit is slidable on the main body together with the folder. The mode-switching of the portable being provided according to the sliding position of the hinge unit.
Abstract:
A mobile terminal and a method of executing a call function using the mobile terminal are provided such that the call function is executed in the mobile terminal including a plurality of touch screens, and various graphic user interfaces with respect to the call function are displayed to a user such that the user can conveniently use the call function.
Abstract:
A mobile terminal includes a terminal body having a display and a wireless communication module, a camera body disposed adjacent to the terminal body in a longitudinal direction, and coupled to the terminal body so as to rotate at a certain angle in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction such that an optical axis of a lens formed on the camera body is perpendicular to the longitudinal direction; and a display mode controller for controlling the display such that a first available set of modes is outputted on the display if the camera body is rotated in a first direction, and a second available set of modes is outputted on the display if the camera body is rotated in a second direction.
Abstract:
An object of the present invention is to provide a mobile phone which allows a user to continuously watch a television broadcast even if there is a call from the other party phone. If a call comes from the other party phone in a state of displaying television image on a main display, the television audio output part 36 stops outputting television audio corresponding to the television image while the television image display part maintains display of the television image on the main display, wherein the character information display part 38 causes the main display to display caption corresponding to the television image. Therefore, the user is allowed to continuously watch the television broadcast on the basis of the television image and caption while communicating with the other party phone.
