Abstract:
A power distribution system utilizes flat power cable in combination with a plurality of adapter members for the distribution of power within electronics systems. The adapter members allow flat power cable to be interconnected to conventional crimpable contacts and thereafter routed through conventional electrical connectors. The adapters also allow interconnection between flat cable and power busses or between flat cables and printed circuit boards. The adapters can also allow the interconnection of tabs and receptacles to flat power cable. The adapters are crimpable to the flat cable by means of hand tools which provides for a versatile means of distributing power.
Abstract:
Preloaded electrical connector receptacle has contact receiving cavities extending into one of its sidewalls. A recess extends from each cavity to the mating face and an opening is provided in the hood which communicates with the recesses. Flat stamped terminals are partially inserted into the cavities and have insulation piercing tangs which engage conductors inserted into a conductor receiving opening that extends inwardly from the rearward face of the housing. The terminals are connected to the conductors by fully inserting the terminals into their cavities. The terminals have cantilever spring arms extending through the recesses and into the openings in the hood. The ends of the arms engage terminals in a complementary plug when the plug is coupled to the receptacle.
Abstract:
A connector used for a flexible flat cable, comprises: a housing having a plurality of contacts mounted therein, and a cap plate for capping and retaining a flexible flat cable set in the housing. The housing includes an opening for receiving the flexible flat cable and a recess formed substantially in the center of the opening in the longitudinal direction of the housing. Contact portions of contacts extend to the recess, and are mounted along the long side of the housing at a predetermined pitch.
Abstract:
An ultrasonic transducer probe that provides a connector for quickly, easily, and reliably connecting and disconnecting the transducer electrical connections in such a manner that the connection is removable. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the connector provides means for receiving one end of a flex circuit that is attached at its other end to a multi-element transducer located at the distal end of a probe. The flex circuit is oriented and aligned in the connector with a separate flex circuit in such a manner that compression of the connector sections creates an electrical connection between the flex circuits. Since the connector is solderless, the flex circuits may be removed and replaced without damage to the flex circuits or flex circuit conductors.
Abstract:
A brushless rotary connector comprising first and second housings that are rotatable relative to each other and respectively house first and second flat flexible printed circuits having conductive contacts disposed adjacent each other that are rotatable relative to each other. Electrical cables are coupled to the respective conductive contacts. The conductive contacts rotate relative to each other while maintaining contact with each other as the housings rotate, thus permitting electrical signals to be coupled through the connector.
Abstract:
An electrical connection device for a printing head of a dot printer and a drive circuit therefor, which comprises flexible printed circuits easily connectable to solenoids accommodated in the printing head, and a male connector connected to these circuits. The male connector has electrically conductive pins arranged to be detachably engaged with socket terminals of a female connector fixed to a carriage, the socket terminals being connected to the drive circuit through a flat cable. To mount the printing head onto the carriage, the male connector is plugged into the female connector, while the flexible printed circuits and a flexible hook member are received in a receiving section of the carriage. Disconnection of the printing head from the carriage can be easily made by simply releasing the engagement between the two connectors with the use of the hook member. The flat cable well withstands repetitive bending attributable to reciprocal movement of the printing head.
Abstract:
A programmable connector module is equipped with a molded plastic base on which an IC chip is mounted. The plastic base is wired with programmable inputs which can be used to provide a logic 1 or a logic 0 to each input of the IC chip. Tabs or punch holes located on the plastic base can be broken to disconnect an input circuit from ground to allow a logic 1 to be programmed. Two inputs are used to program the configuration of the module and four inputs are used to program the address of the module. The programmable module can be positioned anywhere along a multiplex wire bus and is equipped with connectors for transmitting and receiving data to and from electrical loads along the bus.
Abstract:
Electrical circuits can be built up in three dimensions by using spacers which interlock together to define stacks. Stacks can be used to clamp together chip carriers between adjacent spacers or to provide power and signal transmission stacks which have a number of continuous tracks. Link members are used to provide electrical connection means between the chip carriers in the chip carrier stacks and the tracks of the power and signal transmission stacks.
Abstract:
The electrode belt adapter assembly is for communicatively connecting the terminal end of a flexible electrode belt device to the cable end of an EGG apparatus having a plurality of leads at its terminal end. The electrode belt adapter assembly is comprised of a lightweight housing assembly having a lockable cover structure to provide access thereinto and having a first aperture and a set of second apertures to respectively provide communicative access of the electrode belt terminal end and the leads of the cable set end. A circuit board assembly having a plurality of connectors is integrally mounted within the housing assembly. An electrode belt connector assembly is mounted on the circuit board and is aligned with the first aperture. The circuit board assembly further has a connection network with a plurality of leads and post connectors at predetermined locations in electrical communication with the electrode belt connector assembly.
Abstract:
A preformed electrical insulation displacement connector enabling electrical continuity between telecommunications equipment whose multiple electrical leads are commonly on a 0.085 inch pitch (center line distance between conductors) and other types of electronic equipment whose multiple electrical leads are commonly on a 0.050 inch pitch. A pair of 25 conductor arrays are preformed for rapid and facile assembly assuming upper and lower rows in an insulative housing. Contacts are mounted at the forward end of the housing so they assume the 0.085 inch pitch and can be engaged by a conventional multiple contact plug and bifurcated tails are mounted at the aft end of the housing to engagingly receive successive leads of a conventional ribbon cable which has a 0.050 inch pitch. If desired, the housing can accommodate a plural contact capacitor filter array adapted to be electrically engaged by the conductor arrays. One or more brackets composed of electrically conductive spring material serve to ground the capacitor filter array. In one embodiment, such a bracket also serves to hold the array fixed in position within the housing. A cover removably mounted on the housing serves to engage the ribbon cable at the aft end of the housing and to hold it firmly in position against the bifurcated tails.
