The system includes a sink system requesting a license for content, a source system generating and providing a first rights token including binding information related to the license, in accordance with the request, and a rights mediator generating a second rights token that is usable in the sink system on the basis of the first rights token and transmitting the generated second rights token to the sink system. The sink system provides the license for the content on the basis of the second rights token. The first rights token includes binding information of principals that indicates use subjects related to the license, and binding information of principals that indicates use objects related to the license.

    摘要： A method and apparatus for restricting the usage of a computer program is disclosed. A license table multiple data entries is generated. A unique table marker is stored on electronic media signifying the beginning of the table. The data entries follow the marker and contain encoded information relating to any number of usage restrictions imputed to a user by the program manufacturer. Upon authorization of use of the program the user is granted access to the program subject to the usage restriction defined by the manufacturer.

According to the present invention, an original disc includes normal program files, and in addition, also includes the copy protection indication. When an attempt is made to copy such a disc using the disc burner software, the software will not make a second generation copy because it will mistakenly identify the original disc as a copy.

The application cooperates with the media drive to identify the media as a cooperating component, and in the process, also identifies the media drive as a cooperating component. The media includes information facilitating such identifying activity, such as a fingerprint indicating the copy protection method used to protect the content. Also included on the media is a guard module that authenticates the application as a cooperating component, establishes secure channels respectively with the application and the media drive for communicating secret information, installs licenses included on the media, and only allows access to the protected content if the media is an original copy. The application then manages usage and/or copying of the protected content according to the installed licenses.

    摘要： A copyright protection system includes a recording device and a reproduction device. The recording device writes encrypted content, an encrypted content key for decrypting the encrypted content, and license information on a recording medium on which a unique media number has been recorded in an unrewritable state. The license information is generated using both the media number and the encrypted content key, and therefore reflects both values. The reproduction device reads the media number, the encrypted content key, and the license information from the recording medium, and judges whether the license information reflects both the media number and the encrypted content key. Only if the license information reflects both values, the reproduction device decrypts the encrypted content key, and decrypts the encrypted content using the content key. In this way, the copyright protection system allows only original recording media to be reproduced, and prohibits reproduction of copy recording media.
