The process may be conducted by the consumer in the field without assistance and or visual inspection, or be partially conducted in conjunction with an authorized intermediary. Furthermore, the process may restore access to content stored on new media without the need to transfer copies of content.

Further exemplary embodiments include systems, methods and computer program products for associating usage rights with digital content packages, managing of digital rights tokens, managing of digital content packages having predetermined broadcast dates, preserving of usage rights when content is transferred between DRM environments, and distributing content packages.

摘要： There are provided an information recording medium, an information processing apparatus, an information processing method, and a computer program, which can realize users' convenience for using content in accordance with a license and copyright protection. An information recording medium stores an encrypted content file including encrypted content, usage right information of the encrypted content, and encryption key information necessary for a decrypting process for the encrypted content. Thus, a user can acquire a license (usage right information) and key information necessary for decryption of the content, together with the content, from the information recording medium, without acquiring the license (usage rights) by connection to a license provider. Therefore, it is no longer necessary to perform a process of acquiring the license (usage rights) from the license provider when the content is to be used, whereby user convenience is improved, and license-based content copyright management can also be ensured.

In determining whether the content can be reproduced, the data processing unit compares expiration date of the encrypted content signature issuer certificate with the information on issue date of the encrypted content signature file, and does not perform processing for decoding and reproducing the encrypted content when the expiration date is before the issue date, and performs the processing for decoding and reproducing the encrypted content only when the expiration date is not before the issue date.

The product mark and the encrypted volume ID are set as information for generating a key used for decryption of encrypted content, and recorded onto a disc by a reflective-film-removal recording method. Due to this configuration, the product mark and the encrypted volume ID as key generating information cannot be read from a pirated disc produced by physically copying a pit pattern on the basis of a legitimate commercial disc, thereby making it possible to prevent unauthorized reproduction or use of content.

摘要： A method for preventing unauthorized installation of application software is disclosed wherein application software is distributed with a user-readable permanent password, one or more user-readable one-time disposable password, and a hidden password (hidden from users but accessible by the setup program). When the setup program is run, the user must enter the permanent password and disposable password(s). The setup program sends these passwords and the target computer serial number to a remote server which verifies their validity, stores the serial number, and returns a complex password and a new disposable password from a remote passwords folder stored on the remote server. The setup program displays the new disposable password to the user who records it for use in future installations. The complex password is used to enable installation of the software, and it is deleted after installation is complete. Subsequent installation or re-installations, if authorized by the terms of the software license agreement, are performed using the same procedure, except that for each such installation, a new disposable password must be used.
