    摘要: A limitation of the interaction between cascaded tap changers and/or between a tap changer and a shunt compensator independently of any real-time communication between the respective controllers is disclosed. Coordinated voltage control in distribution networks can be achieved by an adaptive updating or tuning of control parameters DB4, TD4 of a voltage control unit controlling a second voltage control device, depending on instantaneous or actual operating conditions evaluated by the voltage control unit itself. Instead of using constant control parameters initially set by a commissioning engineer, the parameters are updated based on a voltage level UP4, which in turn is responsive to or affected by any control action performed by a first voltage control device neighboring the second voltage control device. The voltage control unit calculates a deviation of an instantaneous value of the voltage level from a reference value, and translates or maps this deviation to an update of its dead bands and/or time delay characteristics. Hence, the voltage control unit can anticipate, or determine a likelihood of, a control action of the first voltage control device, without the need for a real-time transmission of this information to the voltage control unit.

The sensor detects a mode of load operation and communicates a corresponding load mode signal over the communication link.

    摘要: A technique for controlling a power supply with power supply control element with a tap element. An example power supply control element includes a power transistor that has first and second main terminals, a control terminal and a tap terminal. A control circuit is coupled to the control terminal. The tap terminal and the second main terminal of the power transistor are to control switching of the power transistor. The tap terminal is coupled to provide a signal to the control circuit substantially proportional to a voltage between the first and second main terminals when the voltage is less than a pinch off voltage. The tap terminal is coupled to provide a substantially constant voltage that is less than the voltage between the first and second main terminals to the control circuit when the voltage between the first and second main terminals is greater than the pinch-off voltage.

A duration for which one or more consecutive tap positions of the load tap changer collectively have had the noted polarity also is noted. The one or more consecutive tap positions include the first tap position. The duration for which the one or more consecutive tap positions collectively have had the noted polarity is compared to a threshold value. A change is made from the first tap position to a second tap position with a polarity that is different than the noted polarity when the duration for which the one or more consecutive tap positions collectively have had the noted polarity is longer than the threshold value. A change may be made from the second tap position back to the first tap position.

In one embodiment, a power supply regulator includes a power transistor having first, second, third and fourth terminals. A control circuit is included, which is coupled to the third and fourth terminals of the power transistor. The power transistor is configured to switch a current between the first and second terminals in response a control signal received from the control circuit at the third terminal. A voltage between the fourth and second terminals of the power transistor is substantially proportional to a current flowing between the first and second terminals when a voltage between the first and second terminals is less than a pinch off voltage. The voltage between the fourth and second terminals of the power transistor is substantially constant and less than the voltage between the first and second terminals when the voltage between the first and second terminals is greater than the pinch off voltage.

    摘要: A method for dynamically determining tap position in a step voltage regulator is disclosed. A present tap position is determined and the value of an applied voltage across a tap changing mechanism is measured. Based upon the value of the applied voltage, a directional change in the tap position is detected. A trigger signal is also generated which is responsive to a detected change in tap position. Finally, a new tap position is calculated based upon the present tap position and the directional change in the tap position, when the trigger signal indicates that a change in tap position has taken place.
