    摘要: An internal combustion engine having a plurality of cylinders and an air intake system, with the air intake system formed from at least one distributor pipe, a plurality of intake pipes and at least one plenum, and with the plenum positioned between the distributor pipe and the intake pipes. Here, the combustion air is fed to the air intake system via an air guiding duct which opens out into the distributor pipe, with the charge pressure of the combustion air reduced between the outlet out of the compressor and the inlet into the combustion chamber. A distributor pipe length is dimensioned as a function of an equivalent distributor pipe diameter such that it is possible for a reduction in the charge pressure to be obtained within the air intake system by expansion taking place partially in the plenum in the respective intake pipe and/or within the distributor pipe.

    摘要: An example induction system for an engine includes a plenum in fluid communication with multiple primary runners. A plenum valve is arranged between first and second chambers of the plenum, which are respectively in fluid communication with first and second sets of the primary runners. The plenum valve is configured to move between open and closed positions and regulate flow between the first and second chambers. A second runner is arranged upstream from and in fluid communication with the plenum. A runner valve is arranged in the secondary runner and configured to vary the amount of flow through the secondary runner. A common actuator is interconnected to both the plenum and runner valves and is configured to move both of the plenum and runner valves between desired positions to achieve desired valve configurations that tune the engine.

    摘要: An intake system for a combustion engine has at least two rows of cylinder heads, each of which features an intake manifold with individual pipes leading to the cylinders. The intake manifolds are connected to one another through transverse ducts equipped with switching valves as well as to an air supply duct leading to one of the transverse ducts, which features a throttle valve to regulate the air volume. The air supply duct is preferably comprised of a double-fluted distributor pipe leading to one of the transverse ducts. A throttle valve housing is connected upstream of the distributor pipe, and an interior wall is integrated into the distributor pipe, thereby dividing the interior space thereof into two interior ducts of virtually equal cross section.

    摘要: Air intake manifolds (32) for vehicle engines (50) may include a plate-shaped short runner valve (16) that is rotatably disposed within an aperture (19) of a wall partition (42). The valve (16) may be operated to open and close the aperture. A flange (22) may extend from an inner surface of the aperture and the flange may define a sealing face (22b). An elastic sealing member (21) may be disposed along a peripheral edge of the valve. The sealing member may include first and second projections (21a, 21b) extending from the peripheral edge of the valve. The first and second projections may be arranged in a substantially V-shape. Further, the terminal ends of the first and second projections are preferably disposed so as to closely contact the sealing face when the valve is rotated to the closed position.
