Abstract: Systems and methods are provided to assist with landing a component, e.g. a blowout preventer or production tree, having a female connector onto a male component which may be a mandrel extending from a top portion of the production tree or a wellhead, respectively. Thrusters are located between the component and the mandrel or wellhead, respectively, extending radially and connected to the bottom portion of the component. Activation of a thruster will cause the component to move in a direction away from the activated thruster. Real-time data is collected related to the position of the component relative to the mandrel or wellhead, respectively, and is used to determine which the thrusters to activate. The component is thus caused to move in a desired direction, until the female connector can be lowered onto the male component thereby engaging the blowout preventer or production tree with the mandrel or the wellhead, respectively.

The invention also concerns a method.

Abstract: A control system for a well site, the well site includes connectable elements configured for inserting down a well. An explosion hazard zone surrounds the well site. Abstract: A ball launcher has a body and a ball conveyor. The body has a sidewall defining axial bore, an attachment for attaching to a tubing string, and at least one radial port that provides access though the sidewall to the axial bore. The ball conveyor is carried by the body adjacent to an associated radial port. The ball conveyor comprises an inner bore in communication with the associated radial port and extends laterally outward from the body. A shaft extends along the inner bore, the shaft having a helical flight having at least one turn around the shaft, the flight and a bottom portion of the inner bore defining a ball receiving space large enough to receive a ball to be launched. A drive source rotates the shaft in a first direction to cause the flight to advance one or more balls toward the radial port.

Abstract: A technique facilitates control over flow of hydraulic actuating fluid used to perform a plurality of actuating functions in a subsea well application. A control module is employed for controlling a plurality of hydraulically controlled components and is located along a subsea test tree at a position relatively close to the hydraulically controlled components. The control module, in turn, is controlled electronically via an electric line which provides electric control signals corresponding to desired control instructions regarding the hydraulically controlled components. By moving the control module closer to the hydraulically controlled components response time is greatly reduced.
