Abstract:
This disclosure relates to building trades where precise spacing between structural members ensures support via use of a plurality of elongate spacers. The spacers include at least one intermediate transit tacking member and a pair of nail- or screw-receiving apertures on opposing ends of thereof. One of the opposing ends serves as a pivoting end and the opposite end includes one or more relatively shorter member near the aperture formed therein. These member(s) can be driven into an adjacent trust or other support member while a final precise position is determined. To determine the final precise position to affix a given spacer one or more indicia is provided. Such indicia can include end edges, one or more cut-out features and/or one or more cut-out features and/or numbered or lettered (or other symbols) indicating the relative spacing from one end of the elongate spacer to the other.
Abstract:
A structural engineered wood rim board for light frame construction having joinery slots in a flange, a portion of a light frame construction building constructed from structural engineered wood components including a structural engineered wood rim board for light frame construction having an exterior-facing cavity, a structural engineered wood rim board corner system for light frame construction, and a light framing building method using a structural engineered wood rim board are disclosed.
Abstract:
An exemplary embodiment of the present invention provides a solar panel truss mounting system comprising a base and a truss assembly coupled to the base. The truss assembly comprises a first panel rail mount, second panel rail mount parallel to the first panel rail mount, base rail mount parallel to the first and second panel rail mounts, and a plurality of support members. A first portion of the plurality of support members extends between the first and second panel rail mounts. A second portion of the plurality of support members extends between the first panel rail mount and the base rail mount. A third portion of the plurality of support members extends between the second panel rail mount and the base rail mount. The system can further comprise a plurality of connectors for coupling a plurality of photovoltaic solar panels to the truss assembly.
Abstract:
Improvements are disclosed in the ordering, preparation, billing, and delivery of food and beverages in contexts including retail establishments. The customer order can be developed at the same or another location, via an application on a smartphone, tablet, or computer, on or offline. Various factors that allow predicting the details of a customer's probable order simplify the process. Automatic allow for polling other parties who might have their own interest in similar products, and the aggregation of such interest in a common order. Orders are transferred to systems in the establishment that streamline ordering, billing, preparation, and customer pickup of completed items.
Abstract:
Structural members having enhanced load bearing capacity per unit mass include a skeleton structure formed from strips of material. Notches may be placed on the strips and a weave of tensile material placed in the notches and woven around the skeleton structure. At least one pair of structural members can be jointed together to provide very strong joints due to a weave patterns of tensile material, such as Kevlar, that distributes stress throughout the structure, preventing stress from concentrating in one area. Methods of manufacturing such structural members include molding material into skeletons of desired cross section using a matrix of molding segments. Total catastrophic failures in composite materials are substantially avoided and the strength to weight ratio of structures can be increased.
Abstract:
A system for mounting and supporting photovoltaic (PV) modules includes a frame rail that is formed with a longitudinally extending channel for retaining a plurality of mounting clips, and mounting clamps for anchoring the frame rail to a support base or support structure. Each mounting clamp includes a pair of jaws for engaging along a base portion of the fame rail. The mounting clips are arranged along the length of the frame rail, and are used to support the PV modules adjacent to the frame rails. Module clamps are used to hold the PV modules in place, the module clamps being secured to the mounting clips using elongated fasteners having an engaging end for engaging the mounting clip. The mounting clamps allow the frame rail position to be adjusted in two directions, and the mounting clips facilitate rapid mounting of the PV modules to the frame rail structure.
Abstract:
A shoring assembly for utility vaults. A crossbeam member is carried by a column member and a bracket is connected between the crossbeam member and the column member. The bracket supports the crossbeam member on the column member and comprises a jack member that is extendable upward to engage and move the crossbeam member upward relative to the column member into a support position against a vault roof to be shored.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a multi-layered framing system for securing cladding to an exterior wall having exterior insulation. The framing system provides horizontal elements positioned across the exterior insulation, wherein the horizontal elements are secured to studs within the wall using fasteners. Vertical elements are secured to the horizontal elements. Then panels of cladding are secured to the vertical elements.
Abstract:
A building connection between a plurality of vertical wall studs made with a plurality of bridging members to brace the wall studs. The bridging members are formed with mounting sections that are received in openings of the wall studs and the mounting sections are bracketed by connecting sections that are used to join the bridging members to each other. The bridging members interface with the web of the wall studs to brace them.
Abstract:
A bracing device has a supporting module and a restraining element mounted around the supporting module to provide a restraining-supporting effect to the supporting module. The supporting module has at least one supporting element. The at least one supporting element is elongated and has an axial segment and two connecting heads. The axial segment has at least one concave edge and at least one loading section. The connecting heads are respectively formed on two connecting ends of the axial segment. The restraining element has at least one pair of side boards, two restraining boards and at least one viewing hole. Each one of the restraining boards has an I-shaped cross section, an inner panel, an outer panel and a connecting panel. The at least one viewing hole is formed through the restraining element and aligns along the at least one concave edge of the axial segment.
