    摘要: A method and system for gathering enclosure documents for insertion in an envelope inserting system having a plurality of enclosure feeders for releasing enclosure documents and a plurality of pusher fingers mounted on a pair of endless chains for gathering the released documents. A plurality of flexible extension fingers are connected to the downstream end of enclosure feeder so as to support the released document before the released document is pushed off by a pair of pusher fingers onto a chassis deck. The downstream ends of the flexible extension fingers form a gap with the chassis deck, allowing the documents released upstream to pass under the extension fingers so that the document released from an enclosure feeder is stacked on top of the documents released from the upstream feeders. Because the extension fingers are flexible, the gap under the extension fingers can be widened by a stack of documents released upstream. Preferably, a centering device is installed downstream from each enclosure feeder to guide the released document.

The substrate stack rotating device includes a lower rotating disk and an upper rotating disk that are located in a substrate path to receive a moving substrate stack. The upper disk is driven downward such that a substrate stack is pinched between the lower and upper rotating disks. The resultant clamping force helps maintain substrate stack integrity and neatness. Once a substrate stack is clamped, one of the disks is rotated, bring the substrate stack into a desired orientation. The upper rotating disk is then released, the substrate stack beneficially moves away from the disks, and the substrate stack rotating device is ready to accept another substrate stack.

    摘要: The housing of a delivery unit is engaged with a predetermined part of the body of an image forming apparatus, the housing being pivotable upwardly from the body. An endless belt is wound on a pair of pulleys. One of the pulleys is mounted on a first shaft which is secured to the housing which is latched in position on the body while the other pulley is mounted on a second shaft that is movable with respect to the housing. The second shaft is attached to the body, and the endless belit is stretched to restrain the housing from being unlatched and pivoted upwardly from the body. The delivery unit is attached without use of screws. Accordingly, the delivery unit may be readily placed in its operating position on the body with no possibility of the photoreceptor being damaged. In an image forming apparatus having electric component elements disposed under the delivery unit, the maintenance of the element is facilitated.

    摘要: Method and apparatus of conveying a sheet in a turning action to alter its path of movement. The operator has the option of conveying the sheet through a bump turn mode or a flow turn mode. In the bump turn mode, the original sheet leading edge on a first conveyor is not the leading edge on the second conveyor but instead the sheet side edge becomes the leading edge. In the flow turn mode, the operator can drive the conveyor members of the first conveyor so that the sheet is rotated ninety degrees on the first conveyor and is then deposited onto the second conveyor so that the sheet leading edge on the first conveyor is also the leading edge on the second conveyor. The apparatus consists of a first conveyor and a second conveyor with the first conveyor having individually driven members for the optional modes mentioned.
