Abstract:
An image forming apparatus includes: an image forming unit which forms a toner image on an image carrier; a conveying unit which conveys a recording medium; a transfer unit which transfers the toner image formed on the image carrier to the recording medium conveyed by the conveying unit in a transfer nip; a pre-transfer charging unit which imparts an electrical charge, having a polarity opposite to a normal charge polarity of a toner, to the recording medium conveyed by the conveying unit on an upstream side of the transfer nip in a conveyance direction; and a destaticizing unit which removes a part of the electrical charge that is imparted to a surface of the recording medium by the pre-transfer charging unit and corresponds to unevenness on the surface of the recording medium on an upstream side of the transfer nip in the conveyance direction.
Abstract:
An image transfer device includes a transfer unit and a transport unit. The transfer unit that heats a layered body including a recording member, which is flexible and has an image recorded on a recording surface thereof, and a base member, onto which the image on the recording member is to be transferred, to transfer the image recorded on the recording surface onto the base member. The transfer unit transporting the layered body by rotating while being in contact with a back surface of the recording member on a side opposite to the side of the recording surface. The transport unit disposed upstream of the transfer unit in a transport direction of the layered body. The transport unit rotating while being in contact with the back surface of the recording member to transport the layered body to the transfer unit.
Abstract:
An image forming apparatus which uses a printing control technique for, even when a third-party finisher whose performance is unknown is connected to the image forming apparatus, realizing a sheet-feeding judgment with consideration given to the performance of the finisher and preventing degradation of working efficiency. When an error notification is received from a post-processing apparatus, a type of a sheet discharged to the post-processing apparatus is identified. The identified type is managed as a type of a prohibited sheet prohibited from being discharged to the post-processing apparatus.
Abstract:
An image forming apparatus includes a plurality of image bearing members, a developing unit, an intermediate transfer belt, a secondary transfer body, and a registration roller. A linear speed difference between the intermediate transfer belt and the secondary transfer body is variably set based on a basis weight of a recording medium.
Abstract:
An image forming apparatus includes a static electricity eliminator to remove residual charge from a printing medium. A selector is provided to connect the static electricity eliminator to ground through a selected resistance, and a controller is provided to control the selector depending on printing medium characteristics. The resistance in the ground path connected to the static electricity eliminator is changed according to printing medium characteristics such that elimination of residual charge is effective over a range of printing media having different printing medium characteristics.
Abstract:
A printing apparatus includes a receiving means for receiving a printing job including a plurality pages, a printing means for performing printing processing on a plurality of papers based on the received printing job, a paper discharge means for discharging the plurality of papers which has been subjected to the printing processing, storing means for storing job information for specifying the printing job and paper-discharge-interval control information for controlling a paper discharge interval, a determination means for, when the printing processing based on the received printing job is performed, determining whether there exists a performed printing job that is substantially the same as the received printing job based on the job information stored in the storing means, and a control means for, when the determination means determines that the performed printing job exists, controlling the paper discharge interval based on the paper-discharge-interval control information.
Abstract:
An image forming apparatus having a paper type detection section according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a paper type and paper thickness storage section to store ranges of paper thicknesses correspondingly to a plurality of paper types, a paper thickness detection section to detect a thickness of a sheet on which a formed image is printed, and a paper thickness comparison and determination section to feed, when a specific paper type is selected, a sheet of the paper type to the paper thickness detection section and to determine whether the measured paper thickness is within the range of paper thickness stored in the paper type and paper thickness storage section and corresponding to the paper type, and when the paper thickness comparison and determination section determines that the measured paper thickness is outside the range of the selected paper type, a warning to that effect is issued.
Abstract:
An apparatus produces a member having hidden information in which a sheet of conceal paper for hiding the information and a sheet of recording paper having an image recorded thereon are bonded releasably. The apparatus includes a recording paper supply section, a conceal paper supply section, and a fixing section. The recording paper supply section supplies the sheet of recording paper. The conceal paper supply section supplies the sheet of conceal paper. The fixing section fixes the image, which is formed on the sheet of recording paper supplied from the recording paper supply section, onto the sheet of recording paper, and bonds the sheet of conceal paper supplied from the conceal paper supply section to the sheet of recording paper simultaneously.

Abstract:
A print media deskew apparatus includes a print media support having a first surface defining a plane for a print media transport path and a second surface parallel to the print media transport path and two apertures in the first surface aligned in the print media transport path. A first set of selectively driven spheres in the print media transport path and a second set of selectively driven spheres in the print media transport path downstream from the first impart a paper path force and a lateral driving force on a media sheet such that the sheet is driven laterally to the print media transport path until edge contact with the second surface removes any skew from the sheet.
