    摘要: A method for making granules from a melt material extruded by being pressed through nozzle openings of a perforated plate in a cutting chamber. In this process, the melt material emerging from the nozzle openings of the perforated plate is cut into molten granules in the cutting chamber by at least one rotating cutting knife that sweeps across the nozzle openings. A first coolant flow of a first coolant medium is delivered through a first coolant inlet to at least one first coolant port, with which the melt material is cooled when emerging and being cut at the perforated plate. Furthermore, a second coolant flow of a second coolant medium different from the first is delivered through a second coolant inlet to at least one second coolant port downstream of the perforated plate, with which the granules are additionally cooled and conveyed to an outlet of the cutting chamber.

    摘要: Process of preparing meltblown fibers that are reclaimed from a starting material of a polypropylene component and a sustainable polymer component is provided. In one aspect, the method includes blending starting fibers of a polypropylene component and a sustainable polymer component under heat to form a molten stream, and then vis-breaking the components to obtain a polymeric blend that is suitable for use in meltblowing applications. The molten stream of the vis-broken polymer components are extruded through a meltblowing die to form a stream of meltblown fibers that is then collected on a collection surface to form a coherent meltblown web. The starting material may be bicomponent filaments having a sheath-core configuration in which the polypropylene component is oriented in the sheath and the sustainable polymer component is oriented in the core of the filaments. The invention is also directed to meltblown fibers and webs prepared from the process.

    摘要: The present invention generally relates to a method for manufacturing phase change material (PCM) pellets. The method includes providing a melt composition, including paraffin and a polymer. The paraffin has a melt point of between about 10° C. and about 50° C., and more preferably between about 18° C. and about 28° C. In one embodiment, the melt composition includes various additives, such as a flame retardant. The method further includes forming the melt composition into PCM pellets. The method further may include the step of cooling the melt to increase the melt viscosity before pelletizing. Further, PCM compounds are provided having an organic PCM and a polymer. Methods are provided to convert the PCM compounds into various form-stable PCMs. A method of coating the PCMs is included to provide PCMs with substantially no paraffin seepage and with ignition resistance properties.
