    摘要: A method and a device for manufacturing a powder of amorphous ceramic or metallic particles in a high pressure autoclave. The substance in the liquid state is pressed out of a nozzle (7) upwards in vertical direction. An acoustic levitation field acts on the area in front of the nozzle orifice (12) and an inert cooling gas is made to flow turbulently in this area so that the droplets sprayed out of the nozzle are rapidly cooled and get solidified to grains. The powder can be directly machined by pressing and sintering into objects of the desired shape.

    摘要: A rapidly solidified aluminum-base alloy consists essentially of the formula Al.sub.bal Fe.sub.a Si.sub.b V.sub.c, wherein "a" ranges from 3.0 to 7.1 atom percent, "b" ranges from 1.0 to 3.0 atom percent, "c" ranges from 0.25 to 1.25 atom percent and the balance is aluminum plus incidental impurities, with the provisos that (i) the ratio (Fe+V): Si ranges from about 2.33:1 to 3:33:1 and (ii) the ratio Fe:V ranges from 11.5:1 to 5:1. The alloy exhibits high strength, ductility and fracture toughness and is especially suited for use in high temperature structural applications such as gas turbine engines, missiles, airframes and landing wheels.

    摘要: The invention provides an aluminum based alloy consisting essentially of the formula Al.sub.bal Fe.sub.a V.sub.b X.sub.c, wherein X is at least one element selected from the group consisting of Zn, Co, Ni, Cr, Mo, Zr, Ti, Hf, Y and Ce, "a" ranges from about 7-15 wt %, "b" ranges from about 2-10 wt %, "c" ranges from about 0-5 wt % and the balance is aluminum. The alloy has a distinctive microstructure which is at least about 50% composed of a generally spherical, intermetallic O-phase.Particles composed of the alloys of the invention can be heated in a vacuum and compacted to form a consolidated metal article have high strength and good ductility at both room temperature and at elevated temperatures of about 350.degree. C. The consolidated article is composed of an aluminum solid solution phase containing a substantially uniform distribution of dispersed intermetallic phase precipitates therein. These precipitates are fine intermetallics measuring from about 10 nm to about 100 nm in diameter with an average interparticle spacing ranging from 50-500 nm.

    摘要: A process for manufacturing amorphous alloy powders is provided, wherein, a high-speed fluid jet is blown against a flowing melt of an alloy which can be formed into amorphous powders, thereby powerizing the melt and rapidly cooling and solidifying the melt. Use is made of an action tube in which pressure is reduced and turbulent flow is caused so as to increase the cooling rate of the powderized alloy and to form particles of irregular shape. Further, the powderized alloy particles are forced to forcibly collide against a block to increase the cooling rate of the alloy and to form particles of irregular shape.

    摘要: The present invention provides a method for producing a consolidated article composed of a transition metal alloy. The method includes the step of selecting a rapidly solidified alloy which is at least about 50% glassy. The alloy is formed into a plurality of alloy bodies, and these alloy bodies are compacted at a pressing temperature of not more than about 0.6 Ts (solidus temperature in .degree.C.) to consolidate and bond the alloy bodies together into a glassy metal compact having a density of at least about 90% T.D. (theoretical density). The compacted glassy alloy bodies are then heat treated at a temperature generally ranging from about 0.55-0.85 Ts, but, in any case, above the alloy crystallization temperature, for a time sufficient to produce a fine grain crystalline alloy structure in the compacted article.
