The present invention is to provide an intelligent pluggable transceiver improving an EMI tolerance with a simple mechanism. The optical transceiver of the invention comprises upper and lower housings (11, 12), a holder (81), optical assemblies (51, 61), a cover (14), a substrate (15) and a grip (13). The optical assemblies are fixed with the upper and lower housings together with the holder with interposing the conductive elastic member. Although the rear end of the substrate exposes outside the transceiver, the shield gasket and the ground pattern on the substrate shields the contact portion between the substrate and the upper housing and between the substrate and the cover. Moreover, the grip and the latch lever installed in the lower housing, and the elastic piece realize the latching/releasing mechanism of the transceiver with the host system.

The optical pluggable transceiver according to the present invention has features of a good heat dissipating function with a simplified configuration thereby reducing the cost of not only the component used but also the process itself. The transceiver of the present invention comprises a resin frame, an optical subassembly, a electronic substrate, both mounted on the frame, a heat dissipating member, made of metal, for conducting and radiating heat generated by the electronic circuit on the substrate, and a metal cover for putting these frame, subassembly, substrate, and heat dissipating member therein. A greater part of the surface of the heat dissipating member exposes from the cover, accordingly, the efficiency for radiating heat may be improved. Moreover, these members of the frame, the optical subassembly, the substrate, the heat dissipating member, and the cover are assembled only by fitting without screwing or gluing. Accordingly, the manufacturing process of the transceiver can be extremely simplified.

The optical transceiver of the present invention is one type of the pluggable transceiver that is inserted into/extracted from the cage in the host system. The transceiver includes the OSA (Optical Sub-Assembly) unit, which shows the optical function, and the body unit installing the electronic circuit. The OSA unit includes the receptacle member, the tab plate and transmitting/receiving sub-assemblies. The body unit includes the base installing the circuit board, the heat conducting plate to conduct heat generated by the IC on the substrate to the rear end of the transceiver, the supplementary substrate, the supporting plate, and the cover for putting these components therein. In the present transceiver, the heat is effectively conducted to the rear end thereof the heat conducting plate, besides, the tab plate, the heat conducting plate, and the supporting plate are made only by cutting, bending and tapping without any welding and gluing. Therefore, the present invention may provide an optical pluggable transceiver with superior heat dissipating function by cost saved configuration.
