    Abstract: A touch sensor includes sensing blocks. Each of the sensing blocks includes first sensing cells of a first group, first sensing cells of a second group, and second sensing cells. The first sensing cells of the first group are arranged in a first direction, spaced apart from each other with first separation areas therebetween, and coupled to an identical first electrical node. The first sensing cells of the second group are arranged in the first direction, spaced apart from each other with second separation areas therebetween, and coupled to an identical second electrical node. The second sensing cells respectively extend in a second direction in the first separation areas and the second separation areas. First sensing cells at borders of respective sensing blocks adjacent in the first direction are coupled to different electrical nodes.

    Abstract: A touch sensor includes: a plurality of first sensor electrode columns disposed in a sensing area, the plurality of first sensor electrode columns each including one or more first sensor electrodes; a plurality of second sensor electrode columns alternately disposed with the first sensor electrode columns in the sensing area, the plurality of second sensor electrode columns each including a plurality of second sensor electrodes having a length defined by a longitudinal axis and a width extending in a direction across the length; and a plurality of lines connected to the first sensor electrode columns and the second sensor electrode columns. An outline length of at least some of the second sensor electrodes facing the first sensor electrodes varies along the longitudinal axis of its respective second sensor electrodes.

    Abstract: There is provided a display device including a high-sensitivity touch sensor. A display device includes: pixels arranged in a display region; sensing electrodes arranged in a sensing region; sensing lines coupled to the respective sensing electrodes; a noise detection electrode disposed on the same layer as the sensing electrodes; sensing channels each including a first input terminal coupled to any one of the sensing electrodes and a second input terminal coupled to the noise detection electrode, the sensing channels each generating an output signal corresponding to a voltage difference between the first and second input terminals; and a processor detecting a touch input, using the output signals of the sensing channels.

    Abstract: A display device that senses externally applied pressure and a change in the resonant frequency of a piezoelectric element. The display device includes a piezoelectric sensor layer including a piezoelectric sensor; and a display panel disposed on the piezoelectric sensor layer. The piezoelectric sensor includes: a piezoelectric element having a first electrode, a second electrode facing the first electrode, and a piezoelectric material disposed between the first electrode and the second electrode; an alternating current (AC) voltage generator connected to the first electrode and applies a voltage having a resonance frequency to the piezoelectric element. A sensing circuit connected to the second electrode is configured to measure a change in impedance of the piezoelectric element.

    Abstract: A touch sensor includes a base layer, first touch sensor columns, second touch sensor columns, and sensing lines. The base layer includes a sensing region and a non-sensing region. The first touch sensor columns extend in a first direction. The first touch sensor columns include first touch electrodes. The first touch electrodes include sub-touch electrodes in the sensing region. The second touch sensor columns include second touch electrodes in the sensing region. The second touch sensor columns are alternately arranged with the first touch sensor columns. The sensing lines are in the non-sensing region. The sensing lines include: first sensing lines electrically connected to the sub-touch electrodes, and second sensing lines electrically connected to the second touch electrodes. The sub-touch electrodes and the second touch electrodes have different widths.
