Abstract: Examples herein include apparatus and methods for overriding a media access control module acknowledgment and non-acknowledgment scheme. In one example, a codec module determines if an error-corrected packet is acceptable in response to the detection by the media access module of an uncorrectable error in a received packet, and overrides the media access control module to prevent a non-acknowledgment response from being sent when the error-corrected packet is acceptable.

Abstract: This disclosure describes a first slave device that transmits information to a second slave device indicating that a first data packet was improperly received from a master device, so that a corresponding data packet may be relayed from the second slave device to the first slave device. In an aspect, the second slave device may receive a first data packet followed by an indication that the first slave device improperly received the first data packet, where the second slave device is configured to relay the first data packet to the first slave device in response thereto. In another aspect, the second slave device may receive a request to listen for a separate data stream of the first slave device based on a first data packet being improperly received by the first slave device and transmit a second data packet of the separate data stream to the first slave device.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The described techniques provide for the described techniques provide for generating, by an encoding device, one or more entropy symbols, the length of which changes responsive to errors, stacking the entropy symbols into fixed intervals, and selecting a parity bit. The encoding device may divide entropy symbols that are longer than the fixed interval duration and stack the excess portions of the long entropy symbols with shorter entropy symbols in other intervals. The encoding device may transmit the stacked data packet according to the stacking. A decoding device may receive the data packet, identify the locations of the entropy symbols and the selected parity bit, check the parity of each entropy symbol, identify error bits based on the locations of the entropy symbols within multiple fixed intervals, and may correct error bits based on the stacked intervals, the parity bit, and an error mask.

Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for signaling modulation schemes and stream parameters such that the modulation schemes and stream parameters can be adapted dynamically while maintaining an existing wireless connection. Some implementations include signaling, via a first channel, a set of stream parameters that govern communications on a second channel when a particular modulation scheme is used to modulate the packets transmitted via the second channel. A transmitting device may select a respective set of stream parameters for each of multiple modulation schemes. For example, in addition to an initial modulation scheme and set of stream parameters, the transmitting device can select alternative modulation schemes and sets of stream parameters that are optimized for the respective modulation schemes. The transmitting device signals the modulation schemes and the respective sets of stream parameters via the first channel in advance of switching modulation schemes for the second channel. The transmitting device is enabled to change the modulation scheme and the set of stream parameters on the fly by including an indication of the modulation scheme in the next packet it transmits via the second channel.

Abstract: A first device may establish, with a second device, a logical link associated with short-range communications. The first device may receive a first packet carried on the logical link. When the first PDU data fails the decoding check, the first device may determine, based on the logical link, a first operational mode from a plurality of operational modes for error correction, the first device may receive a set of retransmission packets on the logical link, each of the set of retransmission packets including respective PDU data that is a retransmission of the first PDU data, and the first device may apply, based on the first PDU data included in the first packet and the respective PDU data included in each of the set of retransmission packets, the first operational mode for error correction.

Abstract: In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus may establish a non-proprietary short-range link layer connection with a second device. The apparatus may establish a proprietary link layer connection with the second device. The apparatus may determine a duration of a previous non-proprietary link layer connection event. The apparatus may determine a number of proprietary link layer control PDUs to be exchanged during a proprietary connection event based at least in part on the duration of the previous non-proprietary link layer connection event and a start time of a subsequent non-proprietary link layer connection event. The apparatus may perform a proprietary control procedure by exchanging the number of proprietary link layer PDUs with the second device during the proprietary connection event.

Abstract: Using the modulation scheme and/or coding techniques of traditional BLE may limit not only the data rate, but also limit the amount that the transmit power of a BLE air interface packet can be reduced due to receiver sensitivity. Namely, the lowest signal power level from which a receiving device may obtain information without meeting a BER threshold may limit the amount that the transmit power at the transmitter side can be reduced. There exists a need to transmit a BLE air interface packet using a modulation rate that is greater than 1 Mbps or 2 Mbps, enables a further reduction in transmit power, and/or enables an increase in receiver sensitivity. The present disclosure provides a solution by applying a coding technique and a PSK modulation scheme to a BLE air interface packet that increases data rate and reduces the sensitivity of the receiving device as compared to traditional BLE.

Abstract: The apparatus may establish a non-proprietary link layer connection with a second device. The apparatus may determine if a first set of empty non-proprietary link layer PDUs are exchanged with the second device via one or more channels during a non-proprietary link layer connection event. The apparatus may exchange proprietary establishment PDUs with the second device during at least one proprietary link establishment event via the one or more channels when it is determined that the first set of empty non-proprietary link layer PDUs are exchanged with the second device via the one or more channels. The apparatus may establish a proprietary link layer connection with the second device when it is determined that a sequence of the proprietary establishment PDUs have been exchanged with the second device. The apparatus may communicate with the second device via the proprietary link layer connection.

Abstract: As many applications, such as wireless headsets used with cellular phones, require mostly error free data to accurately reproduce a telephone conversation, uncorrected erroneous data packets may impact a perceived quality of a given application. The error correction techniques of the present disclosure promote error-correction in communication systems that lack FEC with respect to one or more portions of a data packet. The techniques therefore provide error correction for the entire packet, including those portions not protected by any imbedded error correction mechanism. As a result, data communications over noisy communication mediums may be improved as the techniques may reduce bit error rates, and increase the sensitivity of the receiving device such that the transmission power of a data packet may be reduced. For voice packets or other streaming data packets, the techniques promote improved audio quality over systems that do not employ the techniques described in the present disclosure.
