Abstract: In order to improve cell detection in NR, a user equipment apparatus performs a PSS search on a first frequency raster from a group of frequency rasters. When the UE detects a PSS on the first frequency raster corresponding to a PSS hypothesis, the UE searches for an SS on a second frequency raster based at least on part on the detected PSS hypothesis on the first frequency raster. The UE may search for a plurality of hypotheses of the SS corresponding to the detected PSS hypothesis on the first frequency raster and the second frequency raster. The second frequency raster may be selected from the group of frequency rasters based at least in part on the detected PSS hypothesis or the first frequency raster on which the PSS was detected.

Abstract: A configurable new radio (NR) resource scheduling and indication transmission procedure that may be executed by a base station and a user equipment (UE) is disclosed. For example, a base station may determine a number of synchronization signal blocks available for transmission of non-scheduling data, and transmit an indication signifying at least one of the number of synchronization signal blocks or a location of each of the number of synchronization signal blocks. Further, a UE may receiving an indication signifying at least one of a number of synchronization signal blocks or a location of each of the number of synchronization signal blocks. The UE may further determine one or more resource elements forming the number of synchronization signal blocks where non-scheduling data has been scheduled for transmission. The UE may receive the non-scheduling data within the one or more resource elements forming the number of synchronization signal blocks.

Abstract: A wireless communications of a contention-based access procedure that reduces collision of reference signals (e.g., when multiple devices select a same reference signal) may support a relatively high user capacity. For a contention-based access procedure, a user equipment may select at least two reference signals and transmit those at least two reference signals in association with a payload to a base station . The payload may be demodulated using each of the at least two reference signals. Thus, if collision occurs with a first reference signal of the at least two reference signals, the payload may still be demodulated using a second reference signal of the at least two reference signals. A base station may demodulate the payload using either first reference signal or the second reference signal. The base station may transmit, to the wireless communications device, a response based on the demodulated payload.

Abstract: Techniques for structured channel rasters for unlicensed spectrum are described. In an aspect, a first channel raster is identified, where the first channel raster is determined from a set of carrier frequencies and is used over an unlicensed or shared spectrum for a wireless wide area network (WWAN). The first channel raster is aligned with a second channel raster that is used over the unlicensed spectrum for a wireless local area network (WLAN). A frequency scanning may be performed by a user equipment (UE) or a network entity over the unlicensed spectrum for the WWAN using the first channel raster. In an aspect, the first channel raster is used over the unlicensed spectrum for the WWAN supported by the user equipment (UE) or the network entity.
