摘要: A microprocessor device is used in an adapter for a communications loop of the closed ring, one-way, token-passing local area network type. Each station has a host processor with a host CPU, a main memory, and a system bus, and has an adapter including the microprocessor tested according to the invention. The adapter coupled to the main memory by the system bus and includes a local CPU (the microprocessor), a local read/write memory, and a local bus. A transmit-and-receive controller is coupled to the local bus to directly access the local read/write memory; when this station receives a free token, the transmit-and-receive controller copies the message frame to be transmitted from the local read/write memory to the outgoing signal path, converting from parallel to serial. When a message addressed to this station is received, the controller converts it from serial to parallel, and copies the message frame into the local read/write memory via the local bus. Testing of the microprocessor is accomplished by internal self-test of the registers of the device, using the microcode of the control ROM initiated by a test control input.

摘要: An apparatus for estimating a fraction of each component of a fluid of interest flowing in a cased borehole and a property of the fluid includes an acoustic waveguide sensor having a waveguide configured to guide an acoustic signal along a waveguide path and an array of acoustic transducers coupled to the waveguide for transmitting and receiving an acoustic signal, the acoustic waveguide sensor being configured to transmit and receive a compression-wave acoustic signal that is reflected off of the casing and transmit and receive a shear-wave acoustic signal that propagates along the path. A controller is coupled to the waveguide sensor and configured to perform a compression-wave acoustic measurement on the fluid using the acoustic waveguide sensor in order to estimate the fraction of each component of the fluid and to perform a shear-wave acoustic measurement in order to estimate the property of the fluid.

摘要: A method for controlling the electrical power delivered to a downhole system. The downhole system may include a power supply, a downhole tool, and a wire or cable connecting the downhole tool to the power supply. A resistive load, such as a motor, is included with the downhole tool. The power supplied to the downhole tool is dynamically adjustable to match the resistive load voltage and power rating. Dynamically adjusting power is accomplished by varying voltage from the power supply, varying the resistive load requirements, or a combination of both.

摘要: A system for acquiring logging data comprises a controller for causing the generation of a signal in a formation surrounding a wellbore. The controller has a first clock for time-stamping a record of the generated signal. A receiver is deployed in the wellbore and is adapted for detecting the signal. A second clock comprises a double-oven surrounding a crystal oscillator. A controller is operatively coupled to the double-oven to maintain the crystal oscillator temperature substantially at the crystal oscillator turnover temperature. The second clock is synchronized with the first clock before deployment in the wellbore, and the receiver references the second clock in order to record a time-stamp associated with the detected signal.
