Abstract:
A method and system for wireless mobile unit communication within a wireless network having geographic areas for preferred communication usage is provided. An estimated geographic location of a mobile unit is determined. The mobile unit is provided with relative position data of at least one preferred communication area relative to the determined mobile unit estimated location. The mobile unit is then relocated to a preferred communication area based on the relative position data. Preferably, a request for a pre-designated preferred communication area location is initiated by a mobile unit transmission and received by a network base station. The mobile unit can be equipped with a global positioning system (GPS) to determine the mobile unit's estimated location. Transmission of estimated location data can be dependent upon whether the mobile unit or the network calculates relative position data.
Abstract:
User traffic and signaling/control data are routed in wireless systems having an integrated wireless local area network and cellular network. The signaling/control data may include an alert of an incoming mobile terminated session that is transmitted to the user equipment based on the type of user equipment and the level of integration. User traffic is also routed to the user equipment based on the type of user equipment and the level of integration.
Abstract:
At least one subscriber is subscribed to both a cellular network and a wireless local area network (WLAN). The subscriber is located in the WLAN. Flows of the subscriber are provided for transfer. Each flow comprises packets. For each flow a determination is made on whether that flow is to be routed directly through the WLAN or through both the WLAN and cellular network. Each flow's packets are routed based on that flow's routing determination.
Abstract:
The present invention provides for a Time Division Duplex-Radio Local Area Network (TDD-RLAN) which includes a Radio Access Network Internet Protocol (RAN IP) gateway that enables connectivity to the public Internet. The system may serve as a stand-alone system or be incorporated into a UMTS used with conventional Core Network, particularly for tracking and implementing AAA functions in the Core Network.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method and system using dynamic beam forming for wireless communication signals in a wireless network. Base stations and/or UEs are provided with antenna systems having a range of beam forming selections. Relative base station and UE locations are one type of criteria used to make beam forming decisions.
