    Abstract: Techniques are provided for protection of a user equipment (UE) parameter update (UPU) header protection. An example method can include generating, for transmission to an access and mobility management function (AMF) of a network, a first message that includes an indication as to whether a UE supports protection of a UPU header. The method can further include processing, a second message from the network from the network, the second message including UE configuration parameters comprising a UPU transparent container including a UPU header and UPU data, the UPU header protected based at least in part on the indication.

    Abstract: Techniques discussed herein facilitate configuration of network slices for a User Equipment (UE) supporting constraints on simultaneous operation of slices. One example embodiment is a UE device configured to: transmit a registration request message to request registration on a set of requested network slices; and receive a registration accept message indicating the UE is registered to a set of allowed network slices, and wherein the registration accept message indicates slice compatibility information for each allowed network slice of the set of allowed network slices for the UE, wherein the slice compatibility information for each allowed network slice indicates whether or not other configured network slices of the set of configured network slices are compatible with the configured network slice for simultaneous operation by the UE.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for managing synchronization of protocol data unit (PDU) sessions between a user equipment (UE) and a network are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, a determination of whether a message comprising a PDU session status information element (IE) should be sent is based on previous messaging between peer entities of the network. In some embodiments, a determination that the peer entity is informed of a relevant PDU session status is made after expected reply messaging is received in response to prior messaging. In some cases, a reply message without a PDU session status IE is sent from one entity to a peer entity when it is determined that each entity has a matching PDU session status. Cases involving failures detected at the network, and cases where an entity activates a data radio bearer (DRB) of a PDU session that is inactive at its peer are also discussed.
