摘要:
The present invention relates to cannabinoids for use in the prevention or treatment of neurodegenerative diseases or disorders. Preferably the cannabinoids are cannabichromene (CBC) cannabidivarin (CBDV) and/or cannabidivarin acid (CBDVA). More preferably the neurodegenerative disease or disorder to be prevented or treated is Alzheimer's disease.

The present invention relates to the phytocannabinoid tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV) for use in the protection of pancreatic islet cells. Preferably the pancreatic islet cells to be protected are beta cells. More preferably the protection of the pancreatic islet cells maintains insulin production at levels which are able to substantially control or improve control of blood glucose levels in a patient.

A system and method for allowing requests generated as a result of dynamic URLs to be efficiently looked up in a cache are provided. The system and method involve receiving a request for a content element, the request being generated from a dynamic URL. A static content element identifier is generated from the request. In an embodiment, the static content element identifier includes only the content identification parameters and the dynamic parameters are removed. The static content element identifier is then used to determine whether the content element is in the cache.

Methods and transcoding proxies for transcoding media streams are described. In one embodiment, a method for transcoding a media stream that is delivered to an end-user device over a communications network involves selecting a transcoding technique for the media stream, transcoding a portion of the media stream using the selected transcoding technique, streaming the transcoded portion of the media stream to the end-user device, while the transcoded portion of the media stream is being streamed to the end-user device, detecting a change in a condition of the communications network, selecting a different transcoding technique in response to the change in the condition of the communications network, transcoding a subsequent portion of the media stream using the different transcoding technique, and streaming the transcoded subsequent portion of the media stream to the end-user device. Other embodiments are also described.

The different advantageous embodiments provide a system for identifying a likelihood of detecting objects with a backscatter x-ray system comprising a structure having a number of objects, a plurality of databases, and a processor unit configured to execute a detection analysis process. The processor unit executes the detection analysis process to identify the number of objects, identify a number of densities associated with each of the number of objects, determine a likelihood of detecting each of the number of objects with the backscatter x-ray system, and generate a three-dimensional diagram of the likelihood of detecting each of the number of objects.

A method may include receiving, from a network, a call request in a communication device, the call request including an identification of a calling party; notifying a user of the communication device of the call request; receiving an indication to deny the call request; prompting the user of the communication device, in response to receiving the indication to deny the call request, regarding automatically denying call requests having the identification of the calling party; receiving, from the user, an indication to deny call requests having the identification of the calling party; and sending an instruction to the network to automatically deny the call requests having the identification of the calling party.

A latch system for an aperture closure includes a latch, an auxiliary retention device remote from the latch, an engaging member remote from the auxiliary retention device and a transmission path operably connecting the engaging member with the auxiliary retention device. The latch system is arranged such that movement of the aperture closure from an open position to a closed position causes the latch to move to the closed position and causes movement of the engaging member to cause the transmission path to move the auxiliary retention device to a closed position.

Described is the selective exclusion of content returned in a requested screen capture operation, wherein exclusion may be determined by a window category and the requesting application program. For example, a magnification program will not received content captured from its own layered window or from any other layered magnification windows. A registration mechanism obtains and maintains a window handle for any window registered for exclusion. A screen capture mechanism uses the information to determine whether to exclude the content of windows when returning the captured screen content. Exclusion may be accomplished by enumerating areas that are not covered by any layered window and copying those areas to a screen representation buffer or the like, and separately enumerating areas that are covered by at least one layered window. A covered area is only copied to the screen representation when it does not correspond to an excluded window.

Described is a technology including a mechanism a mechanism that when activated, detects a call to a device independent bitmap. An appropriate mirror driver, such as one or more registered as an accessibility driver, may then be notified of the call. The mechanism may be activated upon creation or selection of the device independent bitmap, and may comprise a wrapper/driver that, from the perspective of the mirror driver, simulates a call to a device dependent bitmap. The notification may be performed by having the driver communicate a function call that emulates a drawing primitive to the mirror driver.

A Disclosed are methods for detecting and localizing a cell-specific antigen in a mammal, such as a human subject, comprising exposing peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) of the mammal to an immunogenic peptide epitope of the antigen, under conditions for antigen-specific activation of T lymphocytes in the PBMCs, thereby producing antigen-specific T lymphocytes that at least bind to the cell-specific antigen. Labeled antigen-specific T lymphocytes are administered to the mammal, typically with-out IL-2, either intraperitoneally or intravenously. The distribution of these cells in the mammal is determined by imaging, thereby detecting and localizing cell-specific antigen in the mammal. Exposing PBMCs to the immunogenic peptide typically involves a cell-free peptide preparation and interleukin-2 (IL-2), but no additional cells such as antigen presenting cells (APC) separately pulsed with antigen. The antigen-specific T lymphocytes typically are cytolytic for cells expressing the cell-specific antigen and may comprise CD4+, CD8+, and/or CD45RO+ memory T cells.
