    摘要: An apparatus for injectate delivery includes a cartridge, a linear actuator, a rotary motor mechanically coupled the actuator, and a controller coupled to the motor. The controller controls a linear motion of the actuator by controlling an electrical input supplied to the motor in a first interval during which the motor is stationary with the linear actuator engaged with the cartridge to displace an injectate in the cartridge, a second interval following the first interval during which the controller accelerates the motor from stationary to a first speed selected to create a jet of the injectate from the cartridge with a velocity sufficient to pierce human tissue to a subcutaneous depth, a third interval during which the controller maintains the motor at or above the first speed, and a fourth interval during which the controller decelerates the motor to a second speed to deliver the injectate at the subcutaneous depth.

    摘要: An exemplary embodiment of the invention is a nozzle, for use in an injection device, that projects material at an ultra-high velocity. The nozzle includes an integrally formed body having an interior passageway that has a longitudinal axis. The input of the nozzle is configured to interface with a cartridge, and the output is configured to be placed proximate to a target. The passageway includes a taper, and its path length, from an initial diameter to a position along the passageway where the passageway first reaches a smallest diameter, is at least 0.5 mm. The taper of the passageway defines a shape, in a plane that includes the longitudinal axis, that is a continuous and monotonically decreasing function of distance along the longitudinal axis in a direction of flow through the nozzle.

A method of determining patient compliance with a treatment regimen includes detecting a potential treatment event by a needle-free injector system; measuring, using at least one sensor proximal to a treatment site on a body of a patient, at least one physical parameter; and determining, using the measurement of the at least one physical parameter, a level of compliance of the patient for the potential treatment event.
