Abstract:
A method of preparing an oxidised polysaccharide-protein conjugate by oxidising a polysaccharide with an oxidising agent to form an oxidised polysaccharide and combining such oxidized polysaccharide with a protein. The oxidised polysaccharide is reacted with a protein to form a composition comprising a conjugate wherein the oxidised polysaccharide and the protein are conjugated via one or more imine bonds and wherein the oxidised polysaccharide comprises essentially no alpha-hydroxy aldehyde units. The conjugate may be used to provide sustained or latent activity of the protein.

A sandal type overshoe for releasable mounting on primary footwear, e.g., a boot or shoe, is disclosed. The overshoe comprises a sole with a forefoot region, a midfoot region, and a hindfoot portion. Toe, side and heel anchor pieces are disposed along the perimeter of the sole and accept two removable lace pieces, one of which connects the front anchor piece and the side anchor pieces, and one of which connects the heel anchor pieces to the side anchor pieces. The sole portion has a ground engaging surface that can provide enhanced traction or other functionality.

An electric motor thermally associated with a liquid reservoir of an aircraft engine is selectively operated to generate heat for pre-heating a liquid in a reservoir prior to engine start.
Abstract:
A soft hemostasis pad of elastomeric material having a hardness of no more than about 50 Shore 00 and an upper surface of raised profile, such as a dome. The pad may be connected by a hinge with another, generally flat-bottom pad of similar elastomeric material and hardness of no more than about 50 Shore 00. The pad may rest on the skin and be penetrated by a needle or other cannula. The pad with the raised profile may then be placed over on top of the needle, for improved hemostasis and sealing when the cannula is removed and before, facilitated by the application of gentle pressure, such as by tape that holds the pads in place.
Abstract:
An electric alternator having a rotor, stator and at least one winding in the stator adapted to conduct a current, the machine also having and first and second magnetic circuits around different portions of the winding which may be configured relative to one another to control generated output voltage of the winding.

Abstract:
A tubular medical fluid flow set comprises a pressure sensing chamber connected in flow-through relation to fluid flow tubing of the set. The pressure sensing chamber defines a movable, flexible, impermeable diaphragm dividing the chamber into two separate compartments. The fluid flow tubing communicates with one of the compartments and is isolated from the other of the compartments. A port is carried on the chamber, the port having a seal therein, and communicating with the other of the compartments. Thus, the other of the compartments is hermetically sealed until the port is opened for connection with a pressure measuring device, to keep the flexible diaphragm in a desired, initial position prior to opening of the seal.
Abstract:
The configurable multiple write-enhanced EDMA of this invention processes multiple priority channels and utilizes as much write data bus as practical. A write queue stores write requests with their corresponding data width and priority. A dispatch circuit dispatches a highest priority maximum data width write request if that is the highest priority stored write request or if the prior dispatch was not a maximum data width write request. The dispatch circuit dispatches two write requests if their total data width is less than or equal to the maximum data width and they both have a priority higher than the highest priority maximum data width write request.
Abstract:
A method of outputting multimedia content such as a video clip on a plurality of user devices (11, 12, 13) allows users of their devices to view the video clip in substantially time synchronised manner. Devices (10,11,12) communicate with each other to exchange control signals over a telecommunications network via communications links (13,14,15). The video clip is provided to user devices in advance of viewing so that during subsequent viewing only small control instructions denoting ‘play’, ‘stop’, ‘pause’ and the like need to be communicated between devices, where such small instructions suffer less from bandwidth constraints and latency of the communications network.
Abstract:
A pad of elastomeric material having a softness of no more than about durometer 50 Shore 00. The pad may carry adhesive and/or a housing for adhering the pad to a surface, either directly or indirectly through an envelope which surrounds the pad and carries the adhesive. Such a pad exhibits hemostatic and leak prevention properties against needle puncture holes in the skin or the wall of a hollow medical device. Particularly, hemostasis may be prevented with low pressure application of the pad to the skin. The pad may be previously applied to the skin of the patient or a wall of a medical device such as tubing or a solution bag, and the needle may then penetrate both the pad and the skin or medical device wall, to make a resealable puncture with leakage reduction and hemostasis when the needle is withdrawn.
