Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that enable a user equipment (UE) in a distributed system to transmit measurement reports for layer 1 (L1) or layer 2 (L2) mobility on a per distributed unit (DU) basis such that each measurement report for L1/L2 mobility contains only measurements of cells that are supported by the same DU. The UE may generate and transmit a DU-specific measurement report to the DU (e.g., via L1/L2 signaling) that includes measurements of cells controlled by the DU. The UE may support various reporting configurations for measurement reporting including per cell, per group of activated cells, or per group of deactivated cells, in each case reporting to the corresponding DU. The UE may also perform joint reporting that includes the measurements of both activated and deactivated cell sets transmitted to the corresponding DU.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may transmit, to a base station, a first message of a two-step random access procedure. An attribute or content of the first message may indicate a request for a second type of control signaling that including fewer bits than a first type of control signaling. The UE may receive a second message of the two-step random access procedure including the second type of control signaling based on the first message. The UE may communicate with the base station on resources scheduled by the second message on a downlink shared channel.

Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable media, for implementing signaling for indicating a scheduled full duplex (FD) uplink (UL) and downlink (DL) traffic scheduling combination for differentiation of FD traffic. In some aspects, a BS may transmit a downlink control information (DCI) message that includes an indication of the scheduled FD UL and DL traffic scheduling combination. The FD UL and DL traffic scheduling combination may identify scheduled UL and DL transmissions for FD mode operation. The UE may receive the DCI message and identify the scheduled FD UL and DL traffic scheduling combination. In some aspects, the BS may provide a DCI message to the UE that indicates whether a DL transmission is being scheduled that at least partially overlaps with a scheduled UL transmission. The UE may initiate a power save mode based on the received DCI message.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may use the techniques described herein to efficiently detect beam failure. In one aspect, the UE may autonomously select one or more criteria for detecting beam failure. The UE may then perform measurements on beam failure detection reference signals received from the base station and use the selected one or more criteria to detect beam failure. Because the UE may select the one or more criteria without signaling from the base station, control overhead between the UE and the base station may be reduced.

Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, an originator UE transmits a sidelink beam training (BT) reference signal (BTRS) a first number of times on each of a first set of beams, and a sidelink discovery message a second number of times on each of a second set of beams, wherein each beam from the second set of beams is associated with at least one beam from the first set of beams (e.g., 1:1 or N:1 mapping of first set of beams to second set of beams). At least one responder UE responds by transmitting, after the transmission of the sidelink BTRSs and the sidelink discovery messages, a BT response signal and a sidelink discovery response message on a beam corresponding to one of the first set of beams.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for hierarchical communications and low latency support within a wireless communications system. An eNB and/or a UE may be configured to operate within the wireless communications system which is at least partially defined through a first layer with first layer transmissions having a first subframe type and a second layer with second layer transmissions having a second subframe type. The first subframe type may have a first round trip time (RTT) between transmission and acknowledgment of receipt of the transmission, and the second layer may have a second RTT that is less than the first RTT. Subframes of the first subframe type may be multiplexed with subframes of the second subframe type, such as through time division multiplexing. In some examples symbols of different duration may be multiplexed such that they different symbol durations coexist.

A first user equipment (UE) (e.g., Tx UE) may transmit or receive a first control message indicating a sidelink beam measurement configuration for performing a sidelink beam sweep procedure using a set of transmit beams. The first UE may select a subset of transmit beams from the set of transmit beams for the sidelink beam sweep procedure based on one or more parameters associated with the sidelink beam measurement configuration. The first UE may then transmit, to a second UE (e.g., Rx UE) during the sidelink beam sweep procedure, a set of sidelink reference signals using respective transmit beams of the subset of transmit beams.

Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatuses for a transmission, from a user equipment (UE) to a first distributed unit (DU), of one or more measurement reports including channel measurements of a set of cells associated with a second DU of a same central unit (CU) as the first DU. The UE may transmit the one or more measurement reports according to various reporting format options, including via separate reports for activated and deactivated cells of the second DU, a joint report for activated and deactivated cells of the second DU, or a joint report across a set of DUs including the first DU. The measurement reports may include one or more metrics associated with each cell of a configured cell set and the UE and the DUs of the same CU may activate or deactivate one or more cells for communication with the UE based on the measurement reports.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some wireless communications systems, a base station may transmit sets of network coding encoded packets user equipments (UEs), and each set of network coding encoded packets may be associated with a redundancy overhead. The base station may dynamically identify the redundancy overhead for transmitting sets of network coding encoded packets to each UE based on a failure rate associated with a previous transmission of network coding encoded packets to that UE. For example, the base station may determine a failure rate associated with a transmission of a first set of network coding encoded packets and may identify a redundancy overhead associated with one or more second sets of network coding encoded packets based on the determined failure rate. In some cases, the base station may identify different redundancy overheads for transmissions of network coding encoded packets to different UEs.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication at a UE. A wireless devices may use a shared or unlicensed spectrum configuration based on a prioritization scheme for the shared frequency resources. The prioritization scheme may assign a priority to different operators and may enable devices associated with a prioritized operator to access the shared band over non-prioritized devices. For example, a non-prioritized device may win the channel and begin communicating over the shared or unlicensed spectrum. The non-prioritized device may then periodically cease transmission for a set interval (i.e., a preemption opportunity) and listen for an indication that a prioritized device wishes to use the channel. If a prioritized device begins transmitting (or, in some cases, if the prioritized device transmits a medium preemption indication) the non-prioritized device may relinquish control of the channel.
