Abstract: The present disclosure proposes indicating to the UE a set of CSI reference subframes that may be used in performing a CSI measurement. The set of CSI reference subframes may be measured over multiple frequencies when frequency hopping occurs. In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus may receive information associated with a number of CSI reference subframes to use in performing CSI measurements in a narrowband communication. In addition, the apparatus may monitor subframes on at least two frequency channels including a PDCCH. Further, the apparatus may perform a CSI measurement across the at least two frequency channels based on the information associated with the number of CSI reference subframes.

Abstract: Improvement in co-existence of the LTE device-to-device communication with another device-to-device communication method is desired. The apparatus selects a countdown number within a size of a contention window including a plurality of slots before a target subframe. The apparatus determines whether each slot of the plurality of slots is idle or utilized while waiting for the target subframe. The apparatus counts down the countdown number during each of the determined idle slots. The apparatus determines whether the countdown number has reached a threshold number before the target subframe. The apparatus performs, when the countdown number is determined to have reached the threshold number, one of: deferring from transmitting until the target subframe, or transmitting a CUBS until a next subframe or the target subframe.

Abstract: NB wireless communication involves numerous challenges. A limited frequency dimension may need to be shared by multiple users. At times, large data transmissions, including multiple TBs of data may be transmitted using NB communication, and it may be important that each TB be successfully received by the users. The apparatus may transmit data comprising a plurality of TBs in a narrow band communications system, including repeating a transmission of the plurality of TBs, using any of a number of repetition patterns. The apparatus may use error correction encoding across multiple TBs. The transmission may be a single cell transmission or a multi-cell transmission.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for determining support for one or more modulation orders to use for the transmission of control channel(s) and data channel(s). In one aspect, a user equipment (UE) determines, based on at least three modulation and coding scheme (MCS) tables, a first modulation scheme to use for communications with a wireless device for a first subset of subframes, and a second modulation scheme to use for communications with the wireless device for a second subset of subframes. Each of the three MCS tables is associated with a different maximum modulation order. The UE monitors for a data channel transmitted in the first subset of subframes using the first modulation scheme. The UE monitors for a data channel transmitted in the second subset of subframes using the second modulation scheme.

An example method is provided for operations which may be performed by a base station (BS). The example method generally includes generating a primary synchronization signal (PSS) utilizing a first code sequence and a cover code applied to the first code sequence over a first number of symbols within one or more subframes, generating a secondary synchronization signal (SSS) based on a second code sequence over a second number of symbols within one or more subframes, and transmitting the PSS and the SSS in the first and second subframes to a first type of a user equipment (UE) that communicates on one or more narrowband regions of wider system bandwidth.
