Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A base station may identify a first synchronization sequence and generate a second synchronization sequence based at least in part on the first synchronization sequence. The base station may map the first synchronization sequence to a first resource block of a synchronization channel associated with a first frequency sub-band of a shared radio frequency spectrum band and the second synchronization sequence to a second resource block associated with a second frequency sub-band of the synchronization channel. The base station may then transmit the first synchronization sequence and the second synchronization sequence concurrently over the synchronization channel using the first resource block and the second resource block according to the mapping. In some cases, the second synchronization sequence may be generated by applying a first phase shift to the first synchronization sequence.

Abstract: Enhancement for bandwidth part (BWP) is disclosed. A base station configures a plurality of BWPs, and activate multiple BWPs for downlink and multiple BWPs for uplink from the plurality of the configured BWPs at a given time. Downlink control information (DCI) that includes BWP activation information can be transmitted on a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) to a user equipment (UE). The BWP activation information includes a link direction, a schedule of the one or more multiple BWPs for downlink and multiple BWPs for uplink, numerologies, reserved sub-band information, tracking reference signal configuration, or any combination thereof. Correspondingly, a UE receives DCI on a PDCCH that includes BWP activation information, and determines activation of multiple BWPs for downlink and multiple BWPs for uplink at a given time based on the received DCI and its capabilities. Associated enhancement for PDCCH and PDSCH scheduling and LBT procedures are also disclosed.

Abstract: Techniques for autonomous uplink (AUL) transmissions are provided that allow for efficient use of shared radio frequency spectrum band resources. A user equipment (UE) may determine a duration of an AUL transmission and modify an uplink waveform or provide an indication to a base station of one or more channel resources that may be available for base station transmissions, in order to more fully utilize shared radio frequency spectrum band resources within a maximum channel occupancy time (MCOT). A base station may activate or deactivate AUL transmissions through downlink control information (DCI) transmitted to the UE. A UE and base station may exchange various other control information to provide relatively efficient autonomous uplink transmissions and use of the shared radio frequency spectrum band resources.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may identify a gap period following a downlink portion of a time division duplexing (TDD) frame. The UE may selectively perform, based at least in part on the gap period, a clear channel assessment (CCA) on a channel of a radio frequency spectrum band. The UE may transmit at least one of a sounding reference signal (SRS) or a physical random access channel (PRACH) preamble in a set of initial symbols of an uplink portion of the TDD frame following the gap period, wherein the SRS or PRACH preamble is frequency-domain multiplexed during the set of initial symbols with one or more of: a demodulation reference signal (DMRS), an uplink data transmission, an uplink control transmission, or a random access transmission.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may obtain access to a shared radio frequency spectrum band for a transmission opportunity. The UE may perform an autonomous uplink transmission over the shared radio frequency spectrum band during a first portion of the transmission opportunity. The UE may transmit a physical layer scheduling request comprising a transmission size parameter for a second portion of the transmission opportunity. The UE may receive an uplink grant for the second portion of the transmission opportunity based at least in part on the scheduling request. The UE may perform a scheduled uplink transmission over the shared radio frequency spectrum band during the second portion of the transmission opportunity according to the uplink grant.

Abstract: New radio (NR) transmission opportunity (TxOP) structure having flexible starting points are disclosed for wireless communications. When a typical listen before talk (LBT) procedure is performed, the transmitting node will not know ahead of time when the LBT will pass and, thus, when data transmissions can start. NR systems may include a mini-slot design for accommodating transmission units smaller than a slot. Aspects of the present disclosure provide for flexibly increasing the number of potential starting transmission boundaries depending on when the LBT pass is detected. Alternative aspects of the present disclosure determine the potential starting transmission points using a mini-slot based design, a floating slot based design, or a punctured slot based design with a code block group (CBG) level retransmission mechanism.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A transmitter may identify a contention window for a no-energy-detection protocol for determining a channel availability for a data transmission. After the contention window expires, the transmitter may send a request message to a receiver. The receiver may measure a quality of the request message against a request threshold and transmit a response message if the measured quality exceeds the request threshold. The transmitter may then measure a quality of the response message against a response threshold. If the measured quality exceeds the response threshold, the transmitter may initiate a data transmission with the receiver. If the quality falls below the response threshold or the response message is not received, the transmitter may adjust the contention window and reattempt the no-energy-detection protocol. The contention window may also be adjusted based on an acknowledgement message received after the data transmission.

The first wireless communication device communicates, with the second wireless communication device, a first communication signal in a first bandwidth part of the plurality of bandwidth parts based on an LBT result.

Abstract: Subband based uplink access for new radio (NR) shared spectrum (NR-SS) is disclosed. A base station performs a listen before talk (LBT) procedure on system allocated subbands of a shared communication channel. The base station determines a first set of candidate subbands that are signaled to a user equipment (UE). The UE performs an LBT procedure on the first set to identify a second set of candidate subbands including the successful LBT subbands of the first set. Aspects of the disclosure provide for managing and refining the subbands for transmissions. A first aspect provides the UE to determine a transmission behavior based on mismatch between the first and second sets. A second aspect provides the first and second sets in handshaking between the base station and UE for refining the eventual transmission set of subbands. A third aspect provides cross-band LBT reporting for further refining subband selection in later slots.
