Abstract: DM-RS symbols may be inserted in the beginning of a subframe, or in two parts of the subframe. In one aspect, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus for dynamically conveying DM-RS information are provided. The apparatus may be a base station. The apparatus may determine the number of DM-RS symbols and/or the locations within a subframe for transmission of the DM-RS symbols. The apparatus may transmit the number of the DM-RS symbols and/or the locations within the subframe for transmission of the DM-RS symbols to a UE. In another aspect, a UE may receive the number of DM-RS symbols and/or the locations within a subframe for transmission of the DM-RS symbols from a base station. The UE may decode the DM-RS symbols from the subframe based on the number of the DM-RS symbols and/or the locations within a subframe for transmission of the DM-RS symbols.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods associated with interference aware sounding reference signals are provided. A method for wireless communication includes receiving, at a wireless communication device in communication with a first base station, an interfering signal from a second base station (or other base stations); determining, at the wireless communication device, a spatial direction of the interfering signal; and transmitting, with the wireless communication device, a signal to the first base station based on the spatial direction of the interfering signal. Another method of wireless communication includes receiving, at a first base station, a signal from a wireless communication device, the signal based on a spatial direction of an interfering signal received by the wireless communication device from a second base station (or other base stations); transmitting, with the first base station, a downlink communication to the wireless communication device, the downlink communication beamformed in the spatial direction based on the signal received from the wireless communication device.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide a subframe structure for time division duplex (TDD) carriers that can be entirely self-contained. That is, information transmitted on a TDD carrier may be grouped into subframes, where each subframe provides communication in both directions (e.g., uplink and downlink) in a suitable fashion to enable such communication without needing any further information in another subframe. For example, a single subframe may include scheduling information, data information corresponding to the scheduling information, and acknowledgment information corresponding to the data information.

As another example, a device can employ frequency domain physical resource block (PRB) bundling with the bundling information signaling. As yet another example, a device can use an adjustable traffic-to-pilot ratio (TPR) for throughput optimization. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also discussed and claimed.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provided techniques for wireless communications by a base station. An exemplary method generally includes transmitting, on a narrowband region within a wider system bandwidth, a directional primary synchronization signal (DPSS), receiving feedback information from one or more user equipments (UEs) based on the DPSS, wherein the feedback information comprises an indication of a bandwidth capability of a UE that transmitted the feedback information, and allocating resources to the one or more UEs within at least one of the wider system bandwidth or the narrowband region based, at least in part, on the feedback information.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. In a new radio (NR) system, a wireless device may encode control information into a codeword using a polar code. The device may prioritize certain information within the codeword due to the time criticalness of that information for processing at a receiving device. For example, information related to frequency allocation may be encoded such that the receiving device may decode the frequency allocation information early in the decoding process. The device may include partial parity checks throughout the codeword, so that the receiving device may test whether the decoded bits for the prioritized information pass a parity check, and may then send these decoded bits for processing before completing decoding of the codeword. In some cases, the device may encode the information to be transmitted using multiple evenized codewords, or using a single consolidated codeword.

Abstract: Techniques are described for wireless communication. A first method includes wirelessly communicating at a first device, with a second device, according to a first subframe structure; receiving a subframe truncation parameter from the second device; and terminating the first subframe structure based at least in part on the subframe truncation parameter. The first subframe structure includes a first periodic sequence of downlink transmission time intervals (TTIs) and uplink TTIs. A second method includes wirelessly communicating at a first device, with a second device, according to a parameterized self-contained subframe structure having an interlaced portion and a tail portion; and reducing a delay indicated by a nominal trigger-response delay parameter associated with a downlink TTI, to enable a response message corresponding to the downlink TTI to be transmitted during the tail portion and before termination of the subframe structure.

Abstract: Described herein are methods, systems, and apparatus for jointly estimating channel and phase noise in a control symbol. In one example, a method for wireless communication is described that includes inserting a control tone at a first periodicity in a first subcarrier of a control symbol and inserting a pilot tone at a second periodicity in a second subcarrier of the control symbol, the pilot tone being offset from the control tone in the control symbol. The method also includes transmitting the control symbol. In another example, a method for wireless communication is described that includes receiving a control symbol comprising a control tone at a first periodicity, and a pilot tone at a second periodicity, the pilot tone being offset from the control tone in the control symbol. The method also includes performing a phase noise estimation and a channel estimation from the pilot tone.
