    Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes receiving a packet in a service function chain at a network device located at a border of a first administrative domain, the packet comprising a service function path identifier and a service index, processing the packet at the network device, wherein processing comprises modifying the packet based on the service function path identifier and the service index to direct the packet to a second administrative domain, and forwarding the packet from the network device to the second administrative domain for processing in the service function chain. The service function chain extends over the first and second administrative domains. An apparatus and logic are also disclosed herein.

    Abstract: The present disclosure provides for carrying downstream mapping information in an echo request message and/or echo reply message, which can describe both IP (Internet Protocol) multipath information and label multipath information. A transit node (e.g., an LSR element) that receives an echo request message from an initiator node determines downstream mapping information, which is returned to the initiator node. Transit node determines whether a newly defined type of multipath information (type 10) should be generated to return the downstream mapping information, based on whether transit node performs load balancing based on labels or IP header information, and whether transit node imposes entropy labels. A multipath information type 10 element includes either IP multipath information or label multipath information, as well as associated label multipath information that includes one or more entropy labels that map to the IP or label multipath information being returned.

    Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to BIER forwarding over varying BSL domains, the methods including the steps of receiving, at a border node, a packet comprising a BIER header having a BIER bit string with a first bit string length; reading an incoming label of the packet comprising instructions to split the BIER header into a plurality of smaller headers associated with a plurality of smaller bit strings; generating a set of split bit masks; performing a separate bitwise AND operation on each split bit mask and the BIER bit string to generate the plurality of smaller bit strings, each copied to a corresponding smaller header of the plurality of smaller headers; and performing a lookup for each of the plurality of smaller headers on a respective forwarding table to determine one or more egress routers to which to transmit the packet.

    Abstract: Devices and methods that incorporate sustainability data within a header of a data packet to allow for the generation of sustainable configurations for various network devices are disclosed. Power efficiency is obtained at a node-level by including metadata to existing network flows, in an in-band/in-situ configuration. This information may be used for optimum flow placement. Received data packets may be formatted with sustainability data within a metadata shim. The received data packets are processed, and a sustainable configuration is generated for the one or more network devices. The generated sustainable configuration is transmitted to the one or more network devices to enable efficient and effective management of network devices by incorporating sustainability data into the data packets.

The device may cause each of a plurality of probes to be provisioned to a corresponding node of the nodes involved in the collaboration session to perform a test of a corresponding segment of the media topology, and each of the plurality of probes may be associated to a session identifier of the collaboration session.     Abstract: Federation policy exchange is provided in response to receiving a sharing query from an Access Point (AP) indicating that an associated wireless network supports federated identities with data sharing, determining whether the sharing query is within sharing preferences; and in response to determining that the sharing query is within the sharing preferences, transmitting, to the AP, a positive response for identity sharing that authorizes collection and sharing of identity data with at least one entity identified in a sharing policy for the associated wireless network. In various embodiments, federation policy exchange includes transmitting a support notification, via an AP, indicating support for federated identities with data sharing within a wireless network associated with the AP; and in response to receiving a first identify sharing preference from a User Equipment (UE) that indicates that negotiation is preferred, transmitting a sharing policy for the wireless network to the UE.
