Abstract: Techniques and apparatus for managing release of resource reservations for sidelink communications are provided. At least one resource reservation is determined from a resource pool having time-frequency resources allocated for sidelink communications with one or more user equipments. Control information that includes an indication of the at least one resource reservation and an indication of whether the at least one resource reservation is releasable is transmitted. A determination of whether to reclaim the at least one resource reservation is made, based on the control information. A set of resource reservations is selected from the resource pool for sidelink communications, based on the determination.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which a transmitting user equipment (UE) may determine a data packet to transmit to another UE and determine a set of candidate resources for transmission of the data packet based on a set of time-frequency resources that are allocated for UE-to-UE communications. A resource reservation signal (RRS) may be transmitted to indicate to other UEs that the set of candidate resources have been reserved by a UE. The RRS may be transmitted such that the RRS may be differentiated from other regular transmissions based at least in part on information provided by a control channel associated with the RRS or a payload of a transmission that includes the RRS. The RRS may indicate one or more of a size of an allocation of the resources and multiple locations of the resources within a time-frequency resource pool.

A communication device, which may be otherwise known as user equipment (UE), may identify a default modulation and coding scheme table and a preconfigured modulation and coding scheme table associated with a resource pool. The UE may receive, from a transmitting communication device, an indication of the preconfigured modulation and coding scheme table to use for upcoming sidelink communications. The UE may then communicate based on the preconfigured modulation and coding scheme table.

The first UE may transmit, based on the determining, a non-access stratum layer message to the second UE based at least on the radio link status of the sidelink connection.

Abstract: The disclosure relates in some aspects to sharing wireless communication resources. For example, a first type of device allocated to use a first resource pool may dynamically use a second resource pool allocated for a second type of device. The first type of device may use an entry criteria to determine whether to use the second resource pool. In some aspects, the entry criteria may specify that resource sharing is permitted if a ratio of resources used by devices of the second type (relative to the total resources in the second resource pool) is less than a threshold. In addition, the first type of device may use an exit criteria to determine whether to stop using the second resource pool. In some aspects, the exit criteria may specify that resource sharing should stop if a ratio of resources used by devices of the second type is greater than a threshold.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment may generate a pseudorandom noise (PN) sequence, modulate the PN sequence based at least in part on a modulation order parameter, and transmit the PN sequence in one or more symbols prior to transmitting sidelink data. The one or more symbols used to transmit the PN sequence may be used for automatic gain control (AGC) training at a receiving device. The user equipment may then transmit the sidelink data in a plurality of symbols that are subsequent in time relative to the one or more symbols used to transmit the PN sequence, and the receiving device may process the sidelink data based on the AGC training. In some systems, two devices may communicate over a sidelink and support a mutually understood transport block (TB) size (TBS) determination procedure associated with a data channel including a control message. A first device may encode and transmit information on the data channel, including the control message and a data message. A second device may receive and decode the information on the data channel. The first device and the second device may determine a TBS for encoding and decoding the data channel, respectively, based on determining an estimated resource element (RE) overhead for the control message and determining an approximate TBS based on the estimated RE overhead.
