Abstract: Systems, apparatus, user equipment (UE), evolved node B(eNB), and methods are described for machine-type communications (MTC) with narrowband deployment comprising including MTC Physical Control Format Indicator (M-PCFICH). One embodiment includes control circuitry configured to determine a super-frame structure, wherein the super-frame structure is set, at least in part, on a bandwidth of the narrowband deployment. The embodiment further comprises circuitry to determine configuration information for a UE in communication with the eNB, generate a configuration for an MTC Control Format Indicator (M-CFI) for the UE to indicate the determined configuration information, and transmit the M-CFI through a narrowband M-PCFICH within the super-frame structure.

Allocations outside the secondary partition are configured as a primary partition for other than MTC. Apparatuses may perform MTC communications within the secondary partition when DRA configuration information includes allocation information for the secondary partition and the apparatus is configured for MTC. Otherwise, if the apparatus is other than MTC, the apparatus may refrain from performing communications in the secondary partition. Other embodiments are described.

The PHICH offset may include a group offset and a sequence offset relative to a transport block (TB) index and first PRB index of a corresponding uplink shared channel. Abstract: An eNodeB (eNB), user equipment (UE) and method for operating in enhanced coverage (EC) modes are generally described. The UE may receive one or more physical broadcast channel (PBCH) signals, dependent on whether the UE is in a normal coverage mode or in one of the EC modes. The PBCH signal may be combined to form a combined PBCH signal, when the UE is in an EC mode, and decoded to determine one of a plurality of sets of resource regions associated different EC modes for communication with the eNB. The signal may be scrambled using a Radio Network Temporary Identifier (RNTI) dependent on at least one of a signal type of the control signal and the EC mode. Paging and the system information block (SIB) signals in a Physical Downlink Shared Channel (PDSCH) may be decoded without decoding a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) signal associated with the PDSCH.

Abstract: Technology described herein addresses symmetric uplink (UL)/downlink (DL) designs that can be applied to both uplink and downlink transmissions. A symmetric UL/DL design can define a Transmission Time Interval (TTI) format with control channels and data channels multiplexed using Frequency Division Multiplexing (FDM) or Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) to partition the control channels and the data channels within a Transmission Time Interval (TTI). A unified waveform can be applied to both UL and DL transmissions. Several Demodulation Reference Signal (DM-RS) designs are also described. A hybrid mode for UL transmissions is also described.

Abstract: Devices and methods of reducing overall Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request-Acknowledgment (HARQ-ACK) of user equipment (UE) using a large amount of carrier aggregation are generally described. The UE may receive a subframe from an enhanced NodeB (eNB). The subframe may contain a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) formed in accordance with a Downlink Control information (DCI) format. The DCI format may comprise a Downlink Assignment Index (DAI) for Time Division Duplexed (TDD) and Frequency Division Duplexed (FDD) operation. The UE may determine, dependent on the DAI, a number and ordering of Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request-Acknowledgment (HARQ-ACK) bits to be transmitted on a Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PUSCH) and subsequently transmit the HARQ-ACK bits.

Abstract: Embodiments described herein relate generally to a communication between a user equipment (UE) and an evolved Node B (eNB). The UE and eNB may perform enhanced physical downlink control channel (EPDCCH)-less operation for scheduling of one or more common control messages, such as one or more system information blocks (SIBs), a random access response (RAR) message, or a paging message. Additionally, or alternatively, an eNB may configure a subset of aggregation levels for the search space of the UE to use for receiving a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) or enhanced PDCCH (EPDCCH). Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.
