Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment may determine a message type for a random access message associated with a two-step random access channel procedure. The message type may be either a first message type or a second message type that is different from the second message type. The message type may be determined based at least in part on whether a signal strength satisfies a signal strength threshold. The user equipment may transmit the random access message based at least in part on the determined message type. Numerous other aspects are provided.

Abstract: Orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) numerologies that maintain symbol boundary alignment while distributing excess cyclic prefixes (CPs) among OFDM symbols. Communication is established using a first sub-carrier spacing (SCS) and a first OFDM numerology, such as an exemplary numerology that distributes excess CP duration among a set of symbols that occupy a time interval within or equal to a corresponding time interval of a symbol of a second OFDM numerology with a second lower SCS. The first SCS may be, e.g., 960 kHz. The second SCS may be, e.g., 120 kHz. Another exemplary OFDM numerology described herein distributes the excess CP as prefix and postfix portions to one of the symbols, such as the first symbol of a set. Communication then proceeds using the first OFDM numerology at the first SCS and, in illustrative examples, using the second OFDM numerology at the second SCS or other OFDM numerologies at other SCSs.

Abstract: Techniques for peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) reduction are described. Wireless devices may use one or more PAPR shaping resources, such as expanded bandwidth and/or pulse-shaping filtering, for shaping a signal to reduce PAPR. For example, expanded bandwidth may be utilized for adding a cyclic affix (CA), such as may comprise a cyclic prefix (CP), cyclic suffix (CS), etc., and combinations thereof, to a frequency domain data signal to provide a CP augmented frequency domain data signal used to generate a reduced PAPR time domain data signal. Additionally or alternatively, pulse-shaping filtering may be applied to a frequency domain signal to provide a pulse-shaped frequency domain data signal used to generate a reduced PAPR time domain data signal. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.

A group hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback message for a plurality of data subframes including at least one of the data subframes in the set of one or more data subframes may then be received over the unlicensed spectrum, from the UE, during the transmission period. In another method, a set of one or more data subframes of a data frame may be received over an unlicensed spectrum during a transmission period. A group HARQ feedback message for a plurality of data subframes including at least one of the data subframes in the set of one or more data subframes may then be transmitted over the unlicensed spectrum during the transmission period.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A base station may transmit or otherwise indicate a semi-static slot format configuration and a dynamic slot format configuration to a user equipment (UE). The UE may determine a slot format configuration based on the received semi-static and dynamic slot format configurations. In some cases, the UE may replace certain resources of the semi-static slot format configuration with resources from the dynamic slot format configuration depending on a certain embodiment. Additionally or alternatively, the base station may transmit an anchor slot configuration to the UE, which may indicate which resources of the semi-static slot format configuration can be overridden or replaced by the dynamic slot format configuration.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may utilize frequency domain (FD) compression for reporting channel state information (CSI) including a precoding matrix indicator (PMI). The UE may receive a CSI configuration specifying a first set of configured FD units to be reported. The UE may determine a first number of FD units based on the first set of configured FD units. The UE may select a second number of FD units that is greater than or equal to the first number of FD units. The UE may calculate, for one or more layers, a PMI for a second set of FD units including a number of FD units equal to the second number of FD units. The UE may allocate, according to a mapping rule, a number of PMIs for the first set of FD units to a subset of the PMIs for the second set of FD units.
