Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described for defining uplink control channel resources and mapping uplink control channel resources to a user equipment (UE). Approaches described herein include identifying a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) format to be used for a subsequent PUCCH transmission by the UE, identifying a PUCCH resource mapping rule based at least in part on the PUCCH format, and determining an uplink transmission resource to be used for the subsequent PUCCH transmission based at least in part on the PUCCH resource mapping rule. The PUCCH resource mapping rule may be explicit and/or implicit.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may map a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) sequence to a first symbol in a set of resource blocks (RBs) of an uplink long burst, and the first symbol may occur at the beginning of the uplink long burst. The DMRS sequence may be “front-loaded” in the uplink long burst. The DMRS sequence may be dependent upon RB locations. When the DMRS sequence is mapped to the beginning of an uplink long burst, uplink control information (UCI) may be mapped in a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH). A UE may map UCI in a PUSCH after the DMRS sequence is mapped to the beginning of the uplink long burst. When the base station receives an uplink long burst including the front-loaded DMRS and the UCI mapped in the PUSCH, the base station may identify the DMRS for channel estimation/interference cancelation of the UCI carried on the PUSCH.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A network may generate a pool of distinct base sequences for use with uplink messages from a user equipment (UE) to a base station, where each base sequence in the pool of distinct base sequences may have a peak to average power ratio below a threshold. A base station may assign the pool of distinct base sequences into groups of base sequences based on a group size and a hopping pattern reuse factor. The base station may assign the groups of base sequences to cells and signal the group size and a hopping pattern index to UEs in the cells. A UE in a cell may identify the group of base sequences assigned to the cell based on the signaled parameters and select a base sequence for use in transmitting an uplink message to the base station.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods and devices for communicating based on improved signaling. A base station can transmit an indication of resources in time and frequency to a UE allocated for NOMA communication with the UE. The indication of resources can comprise a set of NA-RUs. The UE can then transmit uplink NOMA communication to the base station based on the indication of resources received from the base station. Also, the base station can transmit a compact UL resource grant via DCI, or signal the semi-static transport format configuration via RRC, to the UEs allocated for NOMA communication. The DCI or the payload of RRC signaling can be scrambled with a NOMA group RNTI, as well as comprise NOMA transmission parameters indicated by a MCS table. The UE can then transmit uplink NOMA communication to the base station based on the DCI or the RRC signaling.

Abstract: In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus may determine a UE. The apparatus may generate a reference signal using a base sequence obtained from a table, the table including a plurality of base sequences that each have a peak-to-average-power ratio (PAPR) metric below a threshold. Then, the apparatus transmits the reference signal to a base station. The reference signal may be multiplexed with a data transmission.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. An example of a method in accordance with the present disclosure may include a UE identifying that the UE is configured to use a contention-based or uncoordinated (e.g., two-step) random access procedure including an uplink message and a downlink response, where the uplink message includes at least a preamble portion and a data portion. The UE may map an identifier of the UE into a block of source symbols, generate a codeword including a block of coded symbols from the block of source symbols, and generate a set of sequences, where each sequence is based at least in part on a value associated with a corresponding coded symbol of the block of coded symbols. The UE may transmit the generated set of sequences in a preamble portion of the uplink message.

In some cases, a UE receives (from a network entity, such as a base station/gNB) signaling indicating a base sequence from a set of base sequences available for use in sending one or more bits of uplink control information (UCI) within a transmission time interval (TTI), receives signaling indicating a set of feasible cyclic shifts, selects one of the cyclic shifts based on a value of the one or more bits of UCI, and transmits the UCI using the base sequence and the selected cyclic shift.
