Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes: an image processing device; a display portion capable of detecting a touch of an input object; a storage storing preset-setting groups; a preset-setting-group-selection-screen display controller displays icons corresponding to the preset-setting groups; and an image-processing-device controller for controlling the image processing device. When at least two icons are displayed on the display portion such that one icon is displayed in a selected state manner, and a specific icon is displayed in a non-selected state manner, and when the specific icon is touched, the preset-setting-group-selection-screen display controller moves the specific icon located on a second area to a first area and moves the one icon located on the first area to the second area in a direction in which the specific icon is moved, and displays the specific icon in the selected state manner and display the one icon in the non-selected state manner.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus prints a template sheet. The template sheet includes a graphical code and operation boxes. The graphical code includes information corresponding to a storage location address that stores information about settings for one or more image forming apparatuses. A user indicates what information is desired or to be changed on the image forming apparatus, marks it on the template sheet and scans the template sheet. Based on the instructions on the template sheet, information for settings is retrieved for an apparatus in a network. Maintenance information for the image forming apparatus also is retrieved using the template sheet and operation boxes.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus capable of preventing print setting information of print data transmitted from an external apparatus from being changed into infeasible information. A CPU of the apparatus stores print data transmitted from the external apparatus. The print data includes a content to be printed and print setting information indicating whether the content is to be printed in color or in monochrome. The CPU determines whether or not the content is chromatic. The CPU receives an instruction for changing the print setting information from a user, before starting to print the print data. In a case where the print setting information indicates that the content is to be printed in monochrome, the CPU permits changing the color mode information as for a content determined to be chromatic and restricts changing the color mode information as for a content determined to be not chromatic.

Abstract: A distributed computing system for managing solutions for print device support requests includes a print device having a user interface, a solution data store, and a solution processing system in communication with the print device. The system receives a support request from the print device that includes print device data pertaining to an issue with the print device. The system uses the print device data to generate a search query, and queries the solution data store to identify a list of possible solutions for the support request. For each selection, the system receives, from the print device, an indication of an exit status for the support request. The system correlates the possible solution associated with the selection with the print device data, generates factors based on the correlation, and uses the generated factors to update fields of a solution index in the data store for the possible solution.

Abstract: A power-supply control device includes a power-supply-state transition control section, body-capable-of-movement detection sections, a time measuring section, a transition-instruction section, and an instruction-provision-time postponement section.
