    Abstract: Various aspects provide for receiving signaling including information configured to indicate whether to adjust a structure of a time-division duplex (TDD) subframe. Such adjusting may include adjusting a time or subcarrier allocated for a control channel, data, and/or a reference signal, such as a user equipment (UE)-specific reference signal (UERS). The UERS may be time-aligned with a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) of another TDD subframe. The UERS may be utilized for inter-link multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) when the UERS is orthogonal to the DMRS. Various other aspects provide for communicating one or more pilot or null tones in a data portion of a first TDD subframe. The one or more pilot or null tones may be used to capture interference from a second TDD subframe communicated by another apparatus. The first TDD subframe may be communicated at least partially concurrent with the second TDD subframe.

    Transmission and detection of overhead channels and signals in a wireless network

    Abstract: Techniques for transmitting and detecting for overhead channels and signals in a wireless network are described. In an aspect, a base station may blank (i.e., not transmit) at least one overhead transmission on certain resources in order to detect for the at least one overhead transmission of another base station. In one design, the base station may (i) send the overhead transmission(s) on a first subset of designated resources and (ii) blank the overhead transmission(s) on a second subset of the designated resources. The designated resources may be resources on which the overhead transmission(s) are sent by macro base stations. The base station may detect for the overhead transmission(s) from at least one other base station on the second subset of the designated resources. In another aspect, the base station may transmit the overhead transmission(s) on additional resources different from the designated resources.

    Abstract: Various aspects of the disclosure relate to a codebook design that defines phase rotation on one or more layers of a codebook. This codebook may be used, for example, for sparse code multiple access (SCMA) encoding. One feature pertains to a method of communication that includes receiving at least one input signal, and mapping each of the at least one input signal to a corresponding layer of a codebook, where the codebook defines phase rotation between the layers. The method may further include generating a coded signal for each of the at least one input signal on each corresponding layer based on the codebook, and generating an output signal based on each generated coded signal.

For example, techniques and apparatus may be provided for employing Alamouti encoding in a time domain for one or more portions of a plurality of modulated symbols associated with a first signal to be transmitted by a first antenna or a second signal to be transmitted by a second antenna to create a first plurality of encoded symbols or a second plurality of encoded symbols with tone-wise Alamouti in the frequency domain.
