Abstract: Methods and system include receiving frames of data generated for an online game, from a server device and encoding the frames using an encoder. Each encoded frame of data is transmitted to a client device over a network, for rendering. A monitoring engine is used to evaluate the data contained in the encoded frame to determine if an amount of data contained in the encoded frame exceeds a maximum data limit specified for a communication channel established between the server device and the client device. When the amount of data contained in the encoded frame exceeds the maximum data limit, a signal is sent to the encoder to dynamically reduce amount of data included in one or more subsequent frames forwarded to the client device for rendering. The adjusting is performed to maintain a frame rate defined for the online game.

Abstract: A system for generating an input signal for a video game includes: a receiving unit configured to receive a video game output signal output by a video game playing device during the playing of a video game; a reasoning model configured to determine an action to take within the video game based on the received video game output signal, the reasoning model being configured to generate a representation of the determined action that is independent of the video game; and an encoding unit configured to translate the representation into an input signal and to provide the input signal to a video game playing device at which the video game is being played, thereby causing the determined action to be performed within the video game.

Abstract: A method for reducing latency in execution of a game is described. The method includes receiving via a computer network a user input associated with the game and determining from the user input a current state of the game. While the current state of the game is being determined, the method includes predicting a next state of the game based on the user input and one or more predicted user inputs. The method further includes generating one or more predicted image frames from the next state, determining whether the one or more predicted user inputs are received via the computer network, and sending the one or more predicted image frames in response to receiving the one or more predicted user inputs to reduce the latency in execution of the game.

Abstract: An audio personalisation method for a first user includes: testing a first user on a calibration test, the calibration test comprising requiring a user to match a test sound to a test location, either by controlling the position of the presented sound or controlling the position of the presented location, for a sequence of test matches, each test sound being presented at a position using a default head related transfer function ‘HRTF’, receiving an estimate of each matching location from the first user, and calculating a respective error for each estimate, to generate a sequence of location estimate errors for the first user; and comparing at least some of the location estimate errors for the first user with estimate errors of the same locations previously generated for at least a subset of a corpus of reference individuals; identifying a reference individual with the closest match of compared location estimation errors to those of the first user; and using an HRTF, previously obtained for the identified reference individual, for the first user.
